Job description

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Resident Engineer in New Windsor, NY! 

Join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team as a Resident Engineer supporting transportation and infrastructure projects for highways, roadways, and bridges in New York State. In this role, you will provide on-site leadership for construction activities, oversee contractor performance, ensure compliance with project plans and specifications, and serve as a key point of communication between clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented construction professional who brings strong field experience, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure improvements for the communities we serve.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.
  • Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with specifications.
  • Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisive decisions.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
  • Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
  • Lead other construction inspectors; providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • 10+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience is required.
  • NICET Certifications and/or PE (Professional Engineer) License is preferred. 
  • Possess a valid US Driver's License is required.
  • Leadership skills, decision making, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $50.00 to $67.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
