Our flagship programs, Academy for Urban Scholars High School, NCUS TEC, the African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA), and the Africentric Personal Development Shop, empower individuals and families across the country.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Digital Marketing Strategist is responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing AAMWA’s digital presence across social media, paid advertising, website performance, and brand management. This role requires a keen understanding of social media and digital advertising platforms, along with the ability to translate strategy into compelling content, measurable results, and meaningful community engagement.

The strategist will lead end-to-end digital initiatives, from creative asset development and campaign execution to performance analysis and brand stewardship, ensuring AAMWA’s mission, messaging, and impact are consistently and effectively communicated across all digital channels. Working closely with leadership, internal teams, and third parties, this role supports audience growth, engagement, and conversion while protecting and strengthening AAMWA’s brand reputation.

The ideal candidate blends creativity, partnership, and optimization, demonstrates sound judgment in fast-moving digital environments, and brings a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to advancing AAMWA’s visibility, credibility, and influence online.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media and Creative Strategy

  • Develop and produce creative digital assets using tools such as Canva and OpusClip for distribution across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Write compelling social media copy and captions aligned with brand voice and campaign objectives.
  • Oversee social media content planning, editorial calendars, publishing, and community management for all AAMWA platforms.
  • Lead digital strategy initiatives from concept through execution, delivering timely recommendations, enhancements, and performance-driven solutions.
  • Conduct regular social media audits to ensure alignment with platform best practices and emerging trends.
  • Manage paid social advertising campaigns, including creation, optimization, and performance tracking within Meta Ads Manager and Sprout Social.
  • Actively engage with online audiences by monitoring comments and direct messages, fostering meaningful community interaction.
  • Develop and execute social media strategy for AAMWA channels and the AAMWA President's LinkedIn presence.

Website and Digital Performance

  • Develop and manage a multichannel digital strategy that includes website conversion campaigns, search engine marketing (SEM), and search engine optimization (SEO) to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain and optimize the organization's website through WordPress to enhance user experience, engagement, and conversion.
  • Leverage analytics and SEM tools to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate digital performance data into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on key online marketing metrics to measure effectiveness and inform strategy adjustments.

Brand Management

  • Monitor AAMWA's digital presence to ensure consistent and accurate use of logos, messaging, and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Implement and enforce brand standards, systems, and procedures to ensure a cohesive brand experience across all digital channels and locations.
  • Monitor brand sentiment and online reputation across social, search, and digital platforms.
  • Identify and respond to brand risks, misinformation, or reputational issues in collaboration with leadership.
  • Support crisis communication efforts with timely, brand-aligned messaging when needed.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in nonprofit, corporate, or mission-driven communications.
  • Multimedia storytelling i.e., video, podcasting, web series, and photography.
  • Ability to create graphics and video in software tools such as Canva, OpusClip, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite effectively and experience using Sprout Social, WordPress, and website analytical tools.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and personable skills.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time while serving as a social media lead.
