Job description

Job Description :
The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture, Fashion and Entertainment - with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.
The Page Six video team is seeking a Lead Video Editor who will help us make existing series and compelling, shareable videos about celebrities, and fashion - subjects that are the mainstay of the nation's most iconic gossip column. You should love celebrity journalism and possess deep knowledge about the latest celebrity gossip, trends, feuds, and hookups. You should live and breathe celebrity lifestyle, fashion and social media, with your fingers on the pulse.
You'll work in an extremely fast-paced environment enabling producers to hit
production targets and goals. You'll be the lead editor for the most important Page Six video series, both the audience favorites and the branded content as well. You'll help create sizzles and other marketing assets as needed. You'll supervise the rest of the editors, giving them creative notes, video editing workflow best practices, troubleshooting problems and overall quality control. You'll coordinate media backups with our production management team. And work with our team and creative director to have graphic guidelines as well as create custom graphics and thumbnails to help click through rates. You must edit fast and with a flourish. Expertise with key products in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects) as well as Adobe graphic templates. You'll edit videos for digital platforms using a mix of original footage, stock footage and social media content.
Along with editing digitally-native video, you will help generate our content, pitching video ideas daily and contributing to the team brainstorming. We seek a candidate who is excited about new types of multimedia storytelling and has a track record of creating digital video in a fast-paced news organization. Must be aware of the latest formats and trends in digital video as a distinct form of content versus television.
This is a fast-paced job that requires a love of all things celebrity, a strong editorial sense and the ability to stay organized while multitasking.
Like us, you believe news doesn't have to be boring and you appreciate the odd and unconventional stories as well as important ones.
This is an opportunity to work with an iconic media brand as it experiences exponential digital growth. New York Post and Page Six videos have received more than a billion views in the past few years.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the editing and post-production of high-priority Page Six video series,
branded content, and celebrity-focused digital features optimized for social and
web platforms.
• Supervise and mentor video editors by providing creative direction, workflow
guidance, troubleshooting support, and overall quality control in a fast-paced
newsroom environment.
• Edit compelling, digitally native videos using original footage, stock assets, and social media content while maintaining Page Six's signature voice, tone, and style.
• Collaborate with producers, creative leadership, and production management to develop graphics packages, thumbnails, sizzle reels, and promotional assets that drive audience engagement and click-through rates.
• Pitch timely celebrity, fashion, and entertainment video concepts daily,
contributing innovative storytelling ideas aligned with trending topics and
audience interests.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines, ensuring efficient turnaround, media organization, backups, and adherence to production
schedules.
• Apply advanced post-production techniques including color correction, audio
mixing, multi-cam editing, and vertical video formatting using Adobe Creative
Suite tools such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop.
The ideal candidate will have:
• 5-10 years experience editing celebrity videos for digital outlets
• Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere
• Knowledge of studio and control room operations
• Ability to color correct and mix audio.
• Ability to create vertical videos for various social platforms
• Be able to work very quickly under pressure
• Pitch video ideas daily and contribute to team brainstorming.
• Experience with multicam editing
• Motion graphics experience a plus as is simple animation, but not necessary
• Ability to select and use music to match the tone and style of the story
• Must be organized, work well in a fast-paced environment and be a team-player.
• Can-do attitude is key: someone who believes news doesn't have to be boring
and who appreciates the odd and unconventional stories as well as important
ones.
• Open to working evenings and weekends, on rare cases if required
• Experience working autonomously in a fast-paced newsroom environment on
weekly deadlines
Note: This role is expected to be on-site in the New York metro area five days per week.
