Job description

The Digital Product Manager is a highly visible and critical role that is responsible for collaborating across teams and leadership to drive growth and profitability by gathering and analyzing voice-of-the-customer (VOC), developing a compelling product roadmap, and launching new offerings into the market. This role requires strong collaboration with Product Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Service to execute new offering programs.

The ideal candidate will be able to speak, read, write, and interpret technical information, analyze data to identify patterns and provide insights for product improvements and strategy, and demonstrate strong communication skills while leading cross-functional teams. They will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to capture and organize information for product development, effectively prioritize tasks and features based on business value and customer needs, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. This role will report directly to the Director of Product Management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Technology, Business, Computer Science or Marketing.
  • 8+ years of total experience with a minimum of 5 years in software, digital, or connected-product management, preferably for products tied to physical hardware (IoT, industrial, energy, building systems, automotive).

  • Experience with IoT/connected product architectures, telemetry pipelines, customer-facing software (web/mobile/dashboards), and SaaS business models (ARR, attach rate, churn) is highly desirable

Travel: 0-15%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drives the Product Development Process (PDP) by conducting research, gathering customer needs, defining product features and requirements to help drive the development and launch of products that align with FTI's long range model to integrate with DERMS and seamlessly participate in wholesale energy markets.
  • Leads end-to-end strategy and operational product roadmap for a digital suite of products interfacing with physical, hardware products ensuring the roadmap proactively addresses and maintains regulatory compliance with evolving grid standards, including FERC Order 2222 requirements.
  • Defines and prioritizes data collection requirements (telemetry, usage, performance, diagnostics) from FTI's hardware products, working with hardware product managers and engineering to ensure connectivity, sensors, and data architecture are designed into products at conception.
  • Serves as the digital counterpart to FTI's hardware product managers, jointly owning the integrated roadmap so physical and digital requirements stay aligned from concept through launch and post-sale.
  • Conducts focused market research to identify needs in the market, including required product capabilities, market trends, market size and market pricing.
  • Creates and manages Product Requirements Documents (PRD) for each product in development to effectively communicate the requirements to all other parties involved in the development process.
  • Plans and executes product launch strategies, develop product messaging, positioning and value propositions, in collaboration with product marketing.
  • Develops monetization strategies for digital offerings - including subscription tiers, value-added services, and data-driven warranty and service programs - owning the business case, pricing, and recurring revenue model for each.
  • Analyzes product costs and margins to identify areas for cost savings and growth as well as develop pricing strategies to ensure profitability.
  • Monitors product performance, Voice-of-the-customer (VOC) feedback, and sales data to identify areas for adjustments to go to market strategy.
  • Build relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry organizations to stay up to date on industry trends and developments.
  • Build relationships with internal partners, engineering, business technologies, digital power, project management, supply chain, and strategic marketing to drive the product development process to develop new products or improve existing products.
  • Support the sales team with training, sales support tools, product demonstration, and customer interaction, as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
