Job description

SUMMARY:

The Digital Division Intern position is designed to be part of a shared rotation and developmental learning program, involving various support, service, benefit enrollment, general business, and project tasks that focus on positively impacting the business activities of NSURICA Direct.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in a flexible pathway learning program, focusing on developing the skills needed for a potential sales production or service role within the agency
  • Participate in job rotations in various departments within the Digital Division, with job duties focusing on account management functions, organizational support, sales functions, and other skills, depending on the needs of the agency; the progression of job duties will be fluid, but focused on achievement of specific departmental goals as agreed upon by employee and departmental supervisor
  • Receive incoming calls from individuals interested in individual health insurance as well as Medicare options for the senior market
  • Educate customers on benefit plan options and the enrollment process
  • Provide a thorough understanding of carrier options available to customers calling in, seeking assistance with their enrollment and application completion 
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of carrier products, maintaining an accurate and current inventory of carrier marketing materials
  • Input customer data/demographics accurately and proficiently into the quoting and enrollment platform, and maintain information in database systems
  • Occasionally conduct outbound calls to clients looking for health insurance and seeking resolution to service issues, marketplace and carrier calls as needed
  • Sell ancillary products alongside the health insurance options 
  • Promote Call Center enrollments and services to ensure prompt product enrollment
  • Develop a base layer of P&C insurance knowledge, gaining an understanding of the concepts and skills required to communicate effectively 
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive training manual for each rotational position, including source documents, to demonstrate acquired knowledge and understanding
  • Provide prompt, courteous, knowledgeable service to customers and prospects
  • Develop basic knowledge of the various information management systems used in the Digital Division
  • Assist each department in processing new and renewal business, as requested, through application assembly, setting up files, assembling proposals, etc., in accordance with Agency standards
  • Support each department with special insurance-related projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree program (completed or in process) preferred
  • Possession of, or the ability to quickly obtain, required insurance licenses for the state of Oklahoma
  • Previous business or administration experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good PC skills, with a focus on the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) with a developing understanding of automated agency management systems
  • Self-starter, imaginative, analytical and creative
  • Ability to acquire knowledge for, study, and pass the insurance licensing exam and meet continuing education requirements
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment
  • Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed 
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers, across all levels
  • Ability to promote and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and the Agency
  • Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:

  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking, office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities
  • Ability to perform approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible force frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display
