Job description

Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District seeks individuals to assist at Conservation Garden Park with plant curation and conservation education.

Job Summary:

Great opportunity for those interested in horticulture, landscaping, and environmental science. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Senior Horticulturist in maintaining the plant collection and database (descriptions, inventory, tags, photos)
  • Providing educational program development for youth and adults: tours, curriculum, etc.
  • Supporting the Digital Content Coordinator in creating educational content for social media
  • Assisting the Outreach Coordinator with educational programing for garden events

Internship: Job can be used as an internship based upon college/university approval.

Job Requirements: Two years of college-level classes in horticulture, environmental science, education, or an equivalent degree preferred. Must have a general knowledge of horticulture, botanical nomenclature, and plant curation. Must be comfortable interacting with the public; organized, detail-oriented, and be willing to learn. Understanding the basics of photography and videography is preferred.

Wage: $17-20 per hour

Hours: Part-time positions (up to 32 hours/week) from August through October. Employment start and end dates are flexible based on the candidate's availability. Must be able to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, Saturdays, and some holidays.
