Job description

Description

An award-winning, nationally recognized youth development program

Who We Are

ICAN is a non-profit organization that provides free, out-of-school time programs serving East Valley youth. Since its founding in 1991, ICAN has remained dedicated to its mission to provide access to out-of-school time opportunities that empower all youth and their families to pursue what is most meaningful to them. ICAN's holistic out-of-school time program model ensures that youth thrive academically, socially, and creatively through four key interconnected pillars: Academic Support, Positive Youth Development, Enrichment and Future Exploration & Community and Family Support. We provide these programs free of charge in order for parents and caregivers to maintain employment and advance their Economic Opportunities.

Our Culture

At ICAN, we believe every child and every family deserves access to quality childcare, keeping parents working and kids safe, and each of our team members is passionate about spreading this purpose.

You are most likely to find success at ICAN if you are:

  • Eager to BLAZE TRAILS, innovate, and create impact
  • Growth-minded and optimistic; can BOUNCE BACK by seeing mistakes and challenges as opportunities to learn
  • People-oriented, making investments every day to CULTIVATE SELF & OTHERS
  • Prepared to SHOW UP & SPEAK UP by being authentic and engaged, aware of how your actions and contributions impact others

The Role

As the Community Engagement Manager, you will cultivate meaningful relationships that strengthen ICAN's presence throughout the community while creating exceptional volunteer experiences that support our mission. You will serve as the bridge between ICAN, our corporate and community partners, volunteers, and internal teams, ensuring every engagement creates value for our youth, strengthens community awareness, and builds long-term partnerships. Reporting to the Director of Community Partnerships, you will do this by:

  • Corporate & Community Partnerships (35%) Develop, strengthen, and steward relationships with corporations, civic organizations, faith-based organizations, community groups, and other partners that support ICAN's mission through volunteerism, in-kind donations and community engagement. Identify and cultivate new partnership opportunities that increase community awareness and create pathways, volunteer engagement, in-kind support, sponsorships, and long-term philanthropic relationships. Represent the organization at networking events, community meetings, and outreach opportunities to expand ICAN's presence throughout the East Valley. Partner with department leaders across ICAN to identify organizational needs and connect those needs with volunteer talent, corporate partnerships, in-kind resources, and community engagement opportunities. Collaborate with the Advancement Team to strategically cultivate relationships that have the potential to grow into sponsorships, philanthropic partnerships, committee involvement, advocacy, and other long-term engagement opportunities.
  • Community & Volunteer Engagement (35%) Lead the planning and coordination of corporate and community engagement experiences from initial inquiry through post-event stewardship. Coordinate logistics, communications, scheduling, orientations, and volunteer preparation while ensuring volunteers feel welcomed, informed, and connected to ICAN's mission. Coordinate career exploration, STEAM, financial literacy, and other specialty volunteer experiences that enrich youth programming. Coordinate in-kind giving opportunities that address identified organization needs, offset costs and strengthen ICAN's programs and operations. Capture stories, photos, and impact to support stewardship and future engagement while creating experiences that encourage volunteers to return year after year. Partner with the Advancement and Marketing teams to develop communications that promote volunteer opportunities, recognize community partners, and highlight the impact of volunteer engagement.
  • Volunteer Systems, Strategy & Impact (30%) Evaluate volunteer engagement trends and identify new audiences, recruitment channels, and partnership opportunities that support the continued growth of ICAN's volunteer program. Maintain volunteer records, database information, background check documentation, and participation tracking to support accurate reporting and stewardship efforts. Track and analyze volunteer engagement metrics, including volunteer participation and hours, repeat engagement, in-kind contributions, volunteer satisfaction, and corporate and community partner engagement to evaluate impact and inform future strategy. Oversee the systems, communication, scheduling, and processes that support volunteer engagement from onboarding through placement, including volunteer orientations, site visits, and coordination across ICAN locations. Evaluate volunteer processes and recommend improvements that create efficient systems and exceptional experiences for volunteers and staff. Support the continued development of ICAN's individual volunteer strategy by identifying opportunities for future growth and expansion as organizational priorities evolve. Coordinate across internal departments to align volunteer engagement with organizational needs and ensure experiences are well-planned, appropriately staffed, aligned with youth safety expectations, and positive for youth, volunteers, and staff.
