Job description

ABOUT NYMBUS

Nymbus (https://nymbus.com/) is not just a leader in fintech; we are a community of innovators passionate about reimagining banking. Our modern core platform and cloud based technology serve as the backbone for financial institutions eager to modernize and excel.

Nymbus is building the next generation of fintech platforms, and Domain Owners are among the most consequential leadership roles in delivering that vision. This role owns the Digital Banking domain: the product surface that defines how end users and businesses interact with their financial institution through digital channels.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

We are a remote first company, with occasional travel required for team collaboration or client engagement.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Domain Owner for Digital Banking is the senior product leader responsible for the strategic direction, squad output, and commercial outcomes of the Digital Banking domain at Nymbus.

You lead multiple squads that build digital banking experiences — from retail and commercial account management to digital account opening, onboarding, self-service, and cross-channel consistency. You manage Builders directly, collaborate daily with Architects and Shippers assigned to your domain, and are accountable for everything your domain ships.

This is not a traditional product management role. You operate with four capabilities simultaneously: strategic product leadership, people leadership of Builders, domain subject matter expertise, and AI-first execution. You are expected to be a hands-on SME in digital banking systems — someone who has designed, built, or deeply operated digital banking platforms and can guide your teams through the complexity of real bank workflows.

THE OPERATING MODEL

You operate within Nymbus' AI-native solution operating model:

Domain Owner (This Role): Owns the domain's strategic direction, manages Builders, drives commercial outcomes, and ensures squad output meets quality and velocity standards. You are the most senior product voice in your domain.

Builders (Your Direct Reports): Own product intent, specification, and implementation within each squad. You hire, develop, and performance-manage Builders. You set their priorities, remove their blockers, and ensure they operate at the AI-first standard Nymbus requires.

Architects (Collaboration Partners): Report through the Architecture organization but collaborate with you daily. They own system design, technical integrity, and cross-squad consistency within your domain. You coordinate with them on data models, API contracts, and platform integration.

Shippers (Collaboration Partners): Report through the Product Operations Spine but collaborate with you daily. They own delivery quality, release management, and operational readiness. You coordinate with them on acceptance criteria, deployment cadence, and production stability.

YOUR DOMAIN: DIGITAL BANKING

  • The Digital Banking domain encompasses the product surfaces through which end users and businesses interact with their financial institution digitally. Current and planned pods include:
  • Digital Base / Retail: Core retail digital banking experience — account management, transaction views, transfers, bill pay, alerts, profile management, and mobile-first UX patterns.
  • Digital Commercial: Commercial banking digital experience — multi-user access, entitlements, ACH/wire origination, account analysis, positive pay, and complex approval workflows.
  • Deposit Origination (shared with Origination domain): Digital account opening flows — consumer and business deposits, identity verification, KYC/CIP orchestration, funding, and stateful onboarding workflows.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Product Leadership

  • Own the product roadmap for the Digital Banking domain
  • Define the vision for how Nymbus delivers digital banking experiences that differentiate community financial institutions
  • Prioritize squad work against business outcomes, client needs, and platform strategy
  • Represent the domain in executive planning, client conversations, and board-level updates
  • Drive commercial outcomes — your domain's output directly impacts revenue, client acquisition, and retention

People Leadership (Builder Management)

  • Hire, develop, and performance-manage all Builders in the Digital Banking domain
  • Set clear expectations for AI-first execution, specification quality, and delivery velocity
  • Coach Builders on domain expertise, product judgment, and technical decision-making
  • Build a team culture of high agency, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure Builders operate at the Nymbus hiring bar and AI fluency standard

Domain Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as the authoritative SME for digital banking within Nymbus
  • Design and reason about end-to-end digital account opening flows for consumer and business deposits
  • Orchestrate identity verification, KYC, CIP, and fraud checks across multiple third-party providers
  • Specify stateful onboarding workflows including retries, exceptions, and manual review paths
  • Ensure cross-channel consistency between digital, branch, and call-center servicing experiences
  • Define UX patterns that balance regulatory disclosure requirements with modern, low-friction user experiences
  • Understand core-to-digital integration patterns including event propagation, synchronization delays, and reconciliation strategies
  • Guide teams through the complexity of multi-tenant digital banking — where platform capabilities must be configurable per institution without per-client engineering

AI-First Execution

  • Model AI-first working practices for the domain — use Kiro, Claude, and spec-driven development personally
  • Set the standard for how Builders in your domain leverage AI tools
  • Ensure specifications, designs, and implementations take full advantage of AI-augmented workflows
  • Drive continuous improvement in pod velocity through AI-native methodology
  • Evaluate and adopt new AI tools and practices that accelerate domain output

Cross-Domain Coordination

  • Coordinate with other Domain Owners on shared surfaces and dependencies
  • Partner with the Architecture Spine on platform-wide patterns that affect Digital Banking
  • Collaborate with COEs (UX, QA, Security) on standards compliance and shared components
  • Align with the Applied AI Practice on AI-driven opportunities within digital banking

QUALIFICATIONS:

AI-First Mindset

  • Active, hands-on experience with AI-assisted product design and development workflows
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools for specification, iteration, and problem-solving
  • Willingness to model AI-first practices for the entire domain
  • Comfort operating in a spec-first, AI-native development methodology

Digital Banking Expertise (Required)

  • 8+ years in product, engineering, or technical leadership roles in digital banking or financial services
  • Deep hands-on experience with digital banking platforms — you have built, operated, or led teams building digital banking products
  • Expert-level understanding of digital account opening, onboarding orchestration, KYC/CIP/fraud workflows
  • Experience designing multi-channel banking experiences (mobile, web, branch, call center)
  • Understanding of core banking integration patterns — how digital layers consume and interact with core systems
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms serving multiple financial institutions
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting digital banking (Reg E, Reg DD, BSA/AML, UDAAP)

Leadership & Management

  • Experience managing and developing product builders, engineers, or technical product managers
  • Track record of building high-performing teams that ship working software
  • Ability to operate at strategic and tactical levels simultaneously — roadmap one day, specification review the next
  • Experience making priority tradeoffs across competing demands with incomplete information
  • Comfort with direct accountability for commercial outcomes tied to product delivery

Technical Fluency

  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, data modeling, and system architecture
  • Ability to engage deeply in technical design discussions with Architects
  • Experience with modern development workflows, CI/CD, and deployment practices
  • Understanding of front-end and back-end technology stacks for web and mobile

WHAT WE ARE EXPLICITLY NOT LOOKING FOR

  • Product managers who manage backlogs but do not lead teams or own outcomes
  • Leaders without genuine digital banking domain expertise
  • People who manage up but do not build down
  • Those who confuse process compliance with product leadership
  • Candidates who have managed teams but never personally designed or built systems
  • Leaders uncomfortable with direct accountability for commercial results

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS AT NYMBUS

The Domain Owner for Digital Banking owns the product surface that most directly shapes how people experience their financial institution. Every account opening, every balance check, every transfer, every bill payment flows through what your domain builds. You are not managing a feature team — you are leading the construction of the digital face of banking for community institutions across America.

This role sits at the center of transformation: the most consequential leadership position in the model, where product strategy, people leadership, domain expertise, and AI-first execution converge.
BENEFITS:
$165,000 - $180,000 Annual Salary
Annual Cash Bonus and Equity Options commensurate with the role level and experience
100% Remote
401(k) plan
Insurance - Health, Dental and Vision
Paid Time Off
