Position: Digital Navigator

Department: Easterseals Veterans Rally Point

Supervisor: Director of Operations, Military Services

Summary of Job:

The Digital Navigator reports directly to the Director of Operations and provides digital literacy education, technology assistance, and workforce readiness support to Veterans Rally Point (VRP) members and participants referred through the SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP). The position provides classroom instruction and individualized coaching, assesses digital literacy needs, and connects participants with technology, internet access, digital resources, and community supports. The Digital Navigator also assists participants in using technology to access employment, benefits, telehealth, and other essential services and develops community partnerships that expand digital inclusion and employment opportunities. The position serves participants at both the Veterans Rally Point in Norwich and the Easterseals Windsor location.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Prior military service preferred. 
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, Social Work, Communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in workforce development, employment services, digital literacy, or a related field.
  • Experience providing digital literacy instruction, technical support, customer service, workforce development, or community outreach preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of digital devices, internet navigation, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, telehealth platforms, and online resources, including VA.gov, My HealtheVet, and other Veteran benefit portals.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to individuals with varying levels of digital proficiency.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations, workshops, or group instruction preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with participants from diverse backgrounds while exercising patience, empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience utilizing databases or case management systems (Salesforce experience preferred) and maintaining accurate program documentation.

  • Highly motivated and committed to serving Active Duty Military, National Guard, Reserve, Veterans, military families, and other eligible participants.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with employers, community organizations, workforce agencies, and other external partners.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts professionally and maintain participant confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel regularly between Easterseals locations and community sites throughout Connecticut.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support classes, outreach events, hiring events, and other program activities.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide digital navigation services to Veterans Rally Point members and SSG Fox SPGP referrals. 
  • Maintain a regular weekly schedule serving both the Easterseals Veterans Rally Point (Norwich) and Easterseals (Windsor) locations.
  • Conduct one-on-one digital literacy assessments and develop individualized learning plans to address each participant's technology needs.
  • Identify barriers to digital access and connect participants with solutions, including affordable internet, devices, assistive technology, and digital skills training.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver digital literacy classes, including curriculum, lesson plans, instructional materials, and course content.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Promotion team to promote digital literacy programming and increase participant enrollment.
  • Provide individualized and group instruction on a wide range of digital topics, such as internet safety, telehealth, VA.gov, My HealtheVet, benefits portals, employment websites, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, device setup, Wi-Fi connectivity, software applications, and general technology use.
  • Assist participants with using smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, and other digital devices to improve confidence and independence.
  • Assist participants with online job searches, resume development, employment applications, interview preparation, and other digital workforce readiness skills.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with employers, workforce agencies, educational institutions, technology partners, and community organizations to expand digital inclusion, employment opportunities, and community resources for Veterans.
  • Connect participants with employment opportunities, hiring events, job fairs, workforce development resources, and other career advancement opportunities.
  • Represent Easterseals at Veteran resource fairs, hiring events, workforce meetings, community events, and other outreach activities that support digital literacy and employment.
  • Maintain accurate participant documentation, employment activities, and program data in Salesforce and other required systems to support grant compliance, reporting requirements, and program evaluation.
  • Track participant progress, outcomes, feedback, and barriers to technology proficiency and employment success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Physical Demands Efforts 

This function requires extended standing and walking with some occasional periods of sitting. Position does not involve climbing or crawling but may on occasion kneel/squat. Requires lifting and moderate carrying of items up to 50 pounds.

Mental & Visual Demands

Requires prolonged computer use, visual focus on electronic devices, and the ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain attention to detail, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment and Hazards

This position operates in a combination of office, classroom, and community settings. The Digital Navigator provides services at multiple Easterseals locations, community partner sites, workforce and hiring events, and Veteran outreach activities. Regular travel between locations is required. The position involves a combination of desk work, computer use, classroom instruction, public presentations, and direct interaction with participants, employers, and community partners. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support classes, outreach events, and community programming.
