About the Role

Are you passionate about digital commerce, data-driven growth, and connecting readers with great books? We're looking for a National Account Manager, Digital Sales to join our expanding Online Sales team and play a key role in shaping the future of our digital publishing business. This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to drive revenue, readership, and discoverability across major digital retail channels, with a primary focus on Amazon Kindle and Kindle Unlimited.

You'll combine strategic account management, promotional planning, market analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to identify growth opportunities and maximize the performance of our adult and children's publishing programs. Working closely with sales, marketing, editorial, publicity, and publishing teams, you'll help bring books to readers through innovative digital promotions, pricing strategies, and merchandising initiatives.

We're seeking a commercially minded, analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships, and is excited by the evolving digital marketplace. If you have experience in e-commerce, account management, digital publishing, or online retail and are eager to make a measurable impact in a growing area of the business, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Digital Account Management & Growth

  • Own day-to-day sales management of assigned digital accounts and programs, with primary responsibility for Amazon Kindle and Kindle Unlimited.
  • Develop and execute account strategies designed to grow digital revenue, improve discoverability, expand readership, and increase participation in high-value promotional opportunities.
  • Build productive relationships with account contacts and serve as the internal expert on account priorities, programs, tools, policies, and evolving business opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue new digital sales opportunities, including seasonal promotions, price promotions, merchandising programs, subscription and reading programs, backlist campaigns, and other account-specific initiatives.
  • Evaluate opportunities across additional e-book and digital retail partners as assigned, helping the company broaden and strengthen its digital sales business.

Sales Planning, Analysis & Reporting

  • Monitor sales, revenue, downloads or reads, promotional performance, market trends, and other relevant account metrics; translate findings into clear recommendations and action plans.
  • Establish benchmarks and KPIs for the digital business and provide regular reporting on performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Analyze title-, category-, imprint-, and campaign-level results to identify patterns that can strengthen future publishing, pricing, metadata, and promotional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate sales plans, promotional calendars, account submissions, and internal reporting, and contribute to monthly, seasonal, and annual planning.

Promotions, Metadata & Discoverability

  • Create a disciplined digital promotional strategy across frontlist and backlist, ensuring that opportunities are evaluated, submitted, tracked, and reviewed for effectiveness.
  • Partner with Marketing, Publicity, Editorial, and Publishing to connect digital promotions to broader title campaigns, author activity, seasonal themes, media attention, and consumer demand.
  • Collaborate with internal metadata, production, and operations teams to help ensure that digital editions have accurate product information, pricing, availability, categorization, and supporting assets.
  • Recommend pricing and promotional approaches based on account insights, comparable-title performance, category trends, and business objectives.
  • Develop scalable ways to surface opportunities across a large and varied backlist, including thematic campaigns and data-informed title selection.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Represent Digital Sales in relevant publishing, marketing, and sales meetings, bringing a clear commercial point of view and actionable marketplace insight.
  • Communicate account developments, promotional learnings, and emerging digital trends across the organization.
  • Partner closely with the Senior National Account Manager to align digital and physical online sales strategies, share account intelligence, and support the overall growth of the Online Sales channel.
  • Contribute digital sales analysis and perspective to acquisitions, title positioning, launch planning, and backlist development as appropriate.
  • Document processes and recommend improvements that make digital account management more efficient, consistent, and effective.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant sales, account management, e-commerce, digital publishing, or related commercial experience; publishing experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing accounts, growing revenue, developing promotions, or using data to identify and pursue commercial opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of the e-book marketplace and digital retail environment; direct experience with Amazon Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, or comparable platforms is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and promotional calendars independently.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with reporting, analytics, and business intelligence tools preferred.
