Job description

Job Summary:
Effectively expedites nutritional care and foodservice to all patients. Duties include: Receiving patient information regarding allergies, likes, dislikes, meal choices, retaining this data for meal planning, receiving/displaying/serving meals, maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen and dining area, and preparing requisitions to meet patient needs. Performs other related duties as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Maintains accurate records on temperature logs.
Performance Expectations:
  • Demonstrate ability to receive, rotate, stock and distribute food and supplies
  • Demonstrate ability to work in freezer, cooler and dry storage
  • Demonstrate ability to read and follow recipes
  • Demonstrate ability to efficiently and safely run all equipment including but not limited to food processors, choppers and mixers
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work area.
  • Demonstrate ability to serve guest accurately and quickly
  • Demonstrate ability to run cash register, make change as needed and balance at end of shift
  • Demonstrate ability to fill and deliver floor stock requisitions in a friendly manner
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively wash and sanitize dishes, keep floors clean and dry
  • Demonstrate ability to keep dining room clean and stocked
  • Demonstrate ability to follow direction of management
  • Demonstrate willingness to assist in other areas as needed
  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve and communicate solutions as needed
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate well with purchasing, leadership, peers, and patients
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain all important records including but not limited to temp logs, waste logs, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to stay productive with no direct supervision at times

Qualifications:
Education/Skills: High school diploma or GED required. Prefer Bachelor/Associate
degree or current pursuit of a degree in nutrition, institution management,
dietetics, home economics, education, or other related fields.
Work Experience:
Recent six months clerical experience or related foodservice or clinical work experience preferred. Must possess good penmanship. Must have working knowledge to handle office equipment. Will provide on-the-job training.

Mental Demands:
Must have average clerical aptitude and be able to do simple mathematical calculations. Visual acuity required for computer terminals and printouts. Ability to hear soft verbal communications. Must have strong communication skills to maintain positive, professional interaction with patients, family members, nursing personnel and co-workers. Tact, courtesy, and care must be used in dealing with patients and family members. Must be prompt in providing requests and clinical nutrition assigned tasks. Must be customer focused and responsive. Considerable initiative and judgment are involved in handling general/confidential information. Must be able to work unsupervised and show initiative toward completion of unassigned tasks.
