Job description

HOURLY: $14.98
JOB OBJECTIVES:

Under general supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor. Will be responsible for reports, filing and recordkeeping. Several decisions are made daily requiring some interpretations and judgment. Position has little or no contact with the public.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Tests, adjusts, and tunes all types of engines and fuel injection and hydraulic systems.
  2. Cleans and repairs all wheel bearings.
  3. Tests for location and nature of defects in auto electrical systems.
  4. Re-align brakes, turns brake drums, and overhauls wheel cylinders.
  5. Repairs and rebuilds all engines.
  6. Adjusts and repairs clutches and transmissions on automobiles or other equipment.
  7. Installs, replaces or adjusts filters, belts or similar parts.
  8. Minor repair of automotive air conditioning systems.
  9. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  10. Will perform other related duties as required.

EQUIPMENT / MATERIALS:
City vehicle, two-way radio, trade tools, grinder, pneumatic tools, hydraulic lift, machine to turn drums, rotors, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position may have some unusual working hours, irregular hours or shifts, may involve occasional travel. Hazards exists which may result in lost time, accident, exposure to soiling of clothing and skin surface; work involves normal weather changes. Physical effort limited to lifting up to 50 lbs; work involves standing and walking from place to place.
EDUCATION / SKILLS REQUIRED:
Requires a high school diploma or GED with two (2) years' experience in hydraulics or diesel. Must be able to work with little direct supervision, in work situations which are varied or which have deviations and irregularities. Requires a valid Texas driver's license.
