Job description

Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Level III Diesel Technician to join our

team. As a Level III Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and

maintaining complex diesel engines and systems. Your expertise in diesel technology,

coupled with your advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, will be crucial in providing

exceptional service and ensuring the efficient operation of diesel-powered vehicles and

equipment. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of diesel engines, strong

problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines and systems, including fuel systems, emissions control systems, electronic controls, and powertrain components.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of diesel vehicles and equipment to identify complex mechanical issues and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and pinpoint malfunctions in diesel engines and associated systems.
  • Repair and replace faulty components, such as injectors, turbos, fuel pumps, and engine sensors, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes to ensure accurate and efficient repair procedures.
  • Stay updated with the latest diesel engine technology and repair techniques through continuous training and professional development.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and service advisors to provide accurate estimates for repair costs and communicate repair recommendations to customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians, sharing your knowledge and expertise in diesel engine diagnostics and repair.



Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized diesel technology program preferred.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a diesel technician, specializing in diesel engines and systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engine operation, fuel systems, emissions controls, and electronic control systems.
  • Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment specific to diesel engines, such as scan tools, oscilloscopes, and flow meters.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex mechanical issues and develop effective repair strategies.
  • Experience in interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and associated systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical individuals.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • ASE certifications or other relevant certifications preferred.
