Job description

SCMI1 is seeking highly motivated professionals to fill multiple vacant Diesel Engine Inspector roles. The duties align with an Engineering Technician VI, providing technical assistance with inspecting and assessing critical shipboard systems as directed by Navy Regional Maintenance Centers, including:

  • Main Propulsion Diesel Engines
  • Diesel Engine Couplings
  • Clutch Assemblies
  • Lubricating Oil Systems
  • Combustion Air Systems
  • Power Generation Diesel Engines
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include:
  • Performance of the following:
    • Diesel Engine Routine Inspections
    • Ready-to-Start Inspections
    • Post-Repair Inspections
    • Formal Periodic Inspections
Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Security Clearance.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
  • 7 to 10 years operating and maintaining Navy shipboard diesel-power generating equipment
  • Demonstrated experience performing Navy assessments, inspections, and audits
  • Direct knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, Navy Standard Items, and applicable Naval Shipsโ€™ Technical Manuals
  • Ability to execute physical shipboard surveys in accordance with assigned division protocols
  • Have completed, or ability to complete, Diesel Engine Inspection course within two years of hire
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation pertaining to critical shipboard assessments
  • Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • MS Office suite proficiency required
  • Ability to use clear and concise oral and written communications
  • Associateโ€™s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field
    • Two years of direct experience may be substituted for a college degree

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with background and applicable required job experience.
