FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced Die Shop Manager to lead die maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts within a growing industrial manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on aluminum extrusion professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, developing teams, and driving continuous improvement. The selected candidate will oversee die shop operations while partnering closely with production, quality, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve extrusion performance, product quality, and operational efficiency.


The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supervising, mentoring, and developing die shop technicians
  • Providing training on troubleshooting, maintenance procedures, and safety practices
  • Conducting performance evaluations and supporting employee development
  • Fostering a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Overseeing the maintenance, inspection, repair, and tracking of extrusion dies
  • Monitoring die wear and scheduling repairs or replacements as needed
  • Ensuring proper die handling, storage, organization, and documentation
  • Maintaining high standards for die quality, performance, and production readiness
  • Partnering with production teams to resolve die-related issues during production runs
  • Analyzing extrusion defects and implementing corrective actions
  • Modifying and optimizing dies to improve material flow and product quality
  • Supporting production teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting expertise
  • Identifying opportunities to extend die life and improve operational efficiency
  • Implementing best practices related to die maintenance, coatings, reworking processes, and performance
  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams on improvement initiatives
  • Monitoring performance metrics and driving process improvements
  • Tracking die maintenance, modifications, repairs, and performance data
  • Analyzing defect trends and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Providing reports to production and engineering leadership
  • Ensuring adherence to operational goals, quality standards, and safety procedures


The selected candidate will also possess:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of aluminum extrusion experience with a focus on die management
  • Direct experience working with extrusion dies required
  • Experience managing a die shop or leading technicians in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong die troubleshooting, correction, and process improvement experience
  • Deep understanding of extrusion processes, die design, and material flow
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
  • Experience with die tracking and maintenance systems
  • Knowledge of die coatings, reworking processes, and die materials
  • Experience with CNC machining, toolmaking, or die shop operations preferred
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset and ability to drive measurable operational improvements
  • Ability to work closely with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams
  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday from 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with flexibility to work later as needed


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while adhering to established safety procedures
  • Ability to work around production equipment, machinery, noise, and industrial work areas
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to inspect, handle, organize, and support maintenance of extrusion dies and related equipment
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment while working in production and die shop areas


Salary Range: $80,000 to $105,000/year
