Job Description Title: Die Maintenance Technician I / Die Maintenance Technician II Comp: $28.00-$39.00/hr + $3.00/hr Weekly Attendance Bonus Location: Mooresville, IN Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying candidates for direct hire Die Maintenance Technician I and Die Maintenance Technician II positions. Responsibilities: Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify, and rebuild complex metal stamping dies Perform die disassembly, inspection, repair, modification, and reassembly Diagnose tooling issues by inspecting stamped panels and identifying root causes Determine whether issues originate from the die, stamping press, or production process Perform precision hand grinding, trim edge grinding, and cutting clearance adjustments Weld and fabricate repairs on damaged tooling Perform preventive maintenance on stamping dies and tooling Support multiple stamping presses throughout the facility Operate cranes and lifting equipment to transport dies safely Run trial presses to verify tooling repairs and proper die function Document repairs and maintain tooling records Work directly with production to troubleshoot issues and minimize downtime Determine whether repairs can be completed at the press or require removal to the Tool & Die Shop Follow work schedules and prioritize die repairs based on production needs Mentor apprentices and lower-level technicians as experience allows Die Maintenance Technician I Responsibilities: Learn die components, functions, and repair techniques Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repairs Learn precision hand grinding and die finishing techniques Assist with welding and fabrication repairs Develop the ability to diagnose basic tooling problems Learn die disassembly, rebuilding, and preventive maintenance procedures Die Maintenance Technician II Responsibilities: Independently troubleshoot and repair complex stamping dies Perform advanced hand grinding and precision finishing Perform welding and fabrication repairs on tooling Modify, rebuild, and improve existing dies Troubleshoot tooling problems both at the press and within the Tool & Die Shop Diagnose die issues based on stamped part quality and production defects Required Skills (Must Have): Die Technician I: Up to approximately 4 years of Tool & Die, metal stamping die, mold die, or related tooling experience; OR completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship; OR approximately 2 years of vocational/trade school Hands-on Tool & Die, stamping die, die maker, or closely related tooling experience Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Understanding of how die components function together Ability to diagnose tooling issues based on stamped parts Comfortable performing manual die repair work Experience with hand grinding, die repair, welding, fabrication, die casting, plastic injection tooling, or production stamping Willingness to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment Preferred Skills (Nice to Have): TIG welding (preferred) Stick/Arc welding experience MIG welding experience Manual hand grinding experience Grinding trim edges and cutting clearances Crane operation experience Stamping press experience Automotive stamping or Japanese automotive manufacturing experience Mechanical maintenance, millwright, diesel mechanic, fabrication, or injection molding tooling backgrounds #ENG123
