We are looking for a Zinc Die Cast Operator to join the team at our Norridge, IL location. Then keep reading! The Norridge location of NSI is a progressive manufacturer of die castings that has been in business for 50+ years and we look forward to having you join our team! Please note, this is a full-time, 1st shift position (7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday).
General Summary
Accountable for performing all required tasks to support die cast operation.
  • Perform quality checks as required per routing sheet and report any issues with part quality, process and/or machine
  • Keep all material segregated between checks
  • Identify defects and use measuring equipment (gauges, caliper, micrometer, etc.)
  • Verify calibration due date on all measuring equipment
  • Report any nonconformances, expired or missing items to Quality
  • Properly mix/dilute lubricants
  • Perform required zinc changes when applicable and refill ingots as needed
  • Properly separate/segregate between material types
  • Separate parts from runners/objects
  • Operate all scales and report any issues with equipment or process
  • At the beginning of every shift, verify that shop ticket holder, color cone, color stamps (Part ID, if applicable) are at assigned machine
  • Perform daily operator PMs required
  • Operate assigned machine(s) and report excessive machine stoppages, scrap, or other issues
  • Clean machine, surrounding areas and collect dross
  • Clean and keep in good working condition all machines and operator tables, fans, printers, monitors and working surfaces
  • Move material when operation is complete or when required to do so
  • Properly fill out routing sheet and report any issues with scrap, quantity, and machine
  • Label and tag production when required
  • Wear required PPE
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor or management
