We are currently looking for Diamond Turning Technicians for all shifts to join our team in Orlando, FL. We offer a competitive salary with shift differential, 9/80 work schedule and foster a professional, high-energy culture where employees are empowered to succeed.

The role of the Infrared Diamond Turning Technician is responsible for configuring and using precision machinery to manufacture aspheric, spherical, and diffractive lenses of varying infrared materials. By following technical specifications, drawings, and blueprints related to optical components, the Infrared Diamond Turning Technician plays a pivotal role in guaranteeing the creation of lenses that conform to internal and MIL specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up CNC machines with tools, fixtures, and workpieces per set up sheet or programs.
  • Adjust machine tool offsets, speeds, and feeds as necessary.Β 
  • Inspect final products with measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, profilometers, interferometers, CT gauges, and non-contact metrology.Β 
  • Perform secondary operations utilizing manual equipment when necessary.
  • Possess understanding of G-Code programming, edits, and updates programs if required.
  • Perform maintenance on machines as required.
  • Perform assigned tasks while properly wearing required PPE and following all safety protocols.
  • PPE includes safety glasses and gloves.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Special Authority:

  • Stop any nonconforming process(es) which may affect safety, poor quality or customer satisfaction
  • Report any halted nonconforming process(es) to Production Supervisor, Quality Manager and/or Process Engineer.

Knowledge, Ability and Skills:

  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of computer data entry/retrieval procedures and basic machinist skills.
  • Experience with standard measurement equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, microscopes, profile projectors, etc.
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to solve basic math problems
  • Regularly required to sit, talk and hear
  • Frequently required to walk or smell
  • Occasional standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work with moderate level of noise
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.

Experience/Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

  • One (1) to two (2) years of operating precision equipment and precision measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Working knowledge of G&M codes and experience writing/editing CNC programs
  • Must be authorized to work and reside in the US and must be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government to confirm with but not limited to U.S. export control regulations (ITAR) but not limited to U.S. export (ITAR) guidelines.
