Job description

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Medical Receptionist to join our busy podiatry practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service to patients while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the front office. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Responsibilities

Patient Reception & Scheduling

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Check patients in and out for appointments.
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm office appointments.
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, including communicating pre-operative instructions and necessary paperwork.

Telephone Management

  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Direct calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Assist patients with appointment requests, prescription refill requests, and general inquiries.
  • Return patient messages and follow up as needed.

Medical Equipment & Program Coordination

  • Process and track diabetic shoe orders.
  • Coordinate orthotic orders and patient fittings.
  • Assist with ordering and tracking durable medical equipment (DME).
  • Follow up with patients, vendors, and insurance companies regarding the status of orders and approvals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to medical equipment programs.

Office Administration

  • Order and maintain office and medical supplies.
  • Scan, file, and organize patient records and documents.
  • Prepare and distribute patient forms and correspondence.
  • Assist with daily administrative tasks to support providers and clinical staff.
  • Ensure patient charts and documentation are complete prior to appointments.

Office Clerk Responsibilities

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and electronic correspondence.
  • Maintain filing systems and office records.
  • Perform data entry and document management.
  • Assist with insurance verification and obtaining referrals when needed.
  • Support billing staff with administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a medical practice is required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus!!
  • Completion of a certificate program in the medical field is preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic medical records (EMR), and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy healthcare setting.

He is currently on staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.
