Job description

RDA is a leading provider of professional civil engineering services to both the public and private sectors. We are looking to hire a qualified individual to perform inspection services for various project types in Northern Virginia.   • Construction Engineering and Inspection services for linear transportation projects, sidewalk/walkway projects, and/or bridge projects.
  • Stormwater Inspection services for stormwater management (SWM), best management practice (BMP), low impact design (LID), and green infrastructure (GI) facilities.
  • Stormwater Inspection services for stormwater conveyance channels and storm structures.
  • Construction oversight inspections for SWM/BMP facility retrofit projects, stream restoration projects, and/or outfall stabilizations.
  • Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC), Virginia Stormwater Management Permit (VSMP), and Stormwater Pollution. Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections for a multitude of project types and sizes.
  • Post-Inspection processing of inspection photos, forms, and field measurements
  • Preparation of inspection reports.
  • Oversee, inspect, and monitor contractual field work which includes earthwork, drainage, structures, pavement, and incidental construction.
  • Communication and coordination with the project contractor and job superintendent.
  • Pay item verification and coordination.
  • Oversee and enforce installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls and safety devices.
  • Ensure construction is in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Maintain project records.
  • High school diploma.
  • Working skills in operating computer equipment, software programs, and field inspection equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions and rugged terrain.
  • Ability to complete and pass a criminal background check.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Virginia DEQ Inspector certifications (ESC, SWIN, DEW, ESIN and/or Dual Inspector) preferred. 
  • Familiarity with GIS platforms and mobile data collection (Collector, Field Maps, and/or Survey123).
