Job description

Job Title: Release Manager
Clearance Required: Public Trust
Work Location: Hybrid
The Release Manager / Change and Release Governance Manager will support by coordinating, tracking, and governing releases, deployments, production changes, and related configuration management activities across supported environments. The role will support cloud-based and DevSecOps-enabled operations, including CI/CD pipeline coordination, release readiness, change documentation, deployment tracking, stakeholder communication, and post-release validation.
Support operational environments, delivery platforms, pipelines, second-tier support, cloud Infrastructure as Code, application automation, database operations, monitoring, vulnerability management, and application upgrades. The program also supports DevSecOps, CI/CD, SRE, cloud migration, application automation, cloud automation, and operational support across development, test, and production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate release and change activities across supported development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Maintain and communicate release calendars, deployment schedules, change windows, implementation plans, and release status.
  • Coordinate with DevOps, cloud operations, application automation, database, security, system administration, and SRE teams to ensure release readiness.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline-based release activities, including tracking pipeline readiness, deployment dependencies, approvals, and implementation status.
  • Ensure release and change activities follow approved governance processes, including required reviews, approvals, documentation, and separation of duties.
  • Track production changes, deployment outcomes, rollback needs, failed changes, emergency changes, and post-release issues.
  • Support change advisory board or equivalent governance activities by preparing change summaries, meeting inputs, action items, and decision records.
  • Coordinate release impact assessments across application, cloud infrastructure, database, monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and operational support teams.
  • Support release planning for application upgrades, COTS package updates, vulnerability remediation deployments, database changes, infrastructure changes, and automation updates.
  • Document release procedures, deployment dependencies, implementation steps, validation results, risks, issues, and lessons learned.
  • Work with DevOps and operations teams to promote repeatable, automated, and controlled deployment practices.
  • Support post-release validation, issue tracking, and communication with Government stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Maintain release and change records in program-approved repositories, tools, or tracking systems.
  • Provide regular release/change metrics, status updates, risks, blockers, and recommendations to program leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Required Experience/Skills:
  • Experience coordinating releases, deployments, or production changes in an IT operations, DevOps, cloud, or application support environment.
  • Understanding of change management, release management, configuration management, and deployment governance practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, application deployment workflows, DevOps tools, and infrastructure automation concepts.
  • Ability to coordinate across technical teams, including DevOps, cloud, database, security, application, infrastructure, and operations stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation skills, including release plans, change records, deployment steps, implementation summaries, and post-release notes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, track dependencies, and communicate release risks clearly.
  • Experience supporting federal or regulated environments is preferred.
  • Experience with Government IT operations environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Kanban delivery practices, sprint coordination, or operational backlog tracking is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in release management, change management, DevOps coordination, configuration management, or IT operations support.
  • Experience supporting production releases in cloud, hybrid, or enterprise application environments.
  • Experience working with Government stakeholders and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps or SRE-oriented operating models.
  • ITIL, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, AWS, or related certifications are preferred but not required

Salary and Benefit Information:
The likely salary range for this position is $120,000 - $126,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
