Job description

ARES is supporting NASA in launching the Artemis mission to send astronauts back to the Moon and Mars. One of our roles is providing program, planning, & control (PP&C) functions for NASA’s Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) as SLS and Orion are built, integrated, tested, and launched. It is an exciting mission supported by an awesome team working side by side with their NASA customers. As the Engineering & Operations Manager you will work within the KLXS Program Office, executing the duties of the KLXS contract and managing activities of about 35 employees and several customers. This role requires excellent skills in leadership, teamwork, organization, planning, execution, employee management, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of engineering process with experience at NASA and ideally at KSC.
  • Experience of working with project managers and engineers throughout the project life cycle.
  • Have strong leadership and organizational skills, with a minimum of 5 years previous proven line management experience with greater than 8 employees who report directly to you.
  • Experience in facilitation techniques, preferably with a Six Sigma green or black belt certification.
  • Commitment to work five days a week (M-F, 8-5) onsite at KSC.

Responsibilities (typical):

  • Support the PMO and PM with engineering, operations, and project management, process development, leadership, and strategy.
  • Lead, plan, and direct a team of professionals working in engineering, project management, and operations.
  • Manage approximately 35 employees and subcontractors and develop and mentor junior employees, to facilitate their future growth. You'll create personal development plans for individuals in your team, and recruit internally and externally when necessary.
  • Ensure performance, compliance, and sustained process improvement initiatives within the organization.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers and internal stakeholders, including NASA EGS Leadership and ensure strong customer satisfaction.
