Job description

At Building Hope, we believe that every child deserves access to a great public school. Families should have a variety of high-quality public school choices to choose from regardless of race, zip code, or the amount of money in their bank account.

Founded in 2003, Building Hope is a 501(c)(3) based in Washington D.C. that develops and finances safe, sustainable, thoughtfully designed, and educator-informed facilities with all the amenities to support student learning nationwide. In addition to supporting charter schools as full-scale real estate developers, we offer facility financing products, back-office services, and technical assistance. We are "all-in" to help our clients with whatever it takes to ensure they are prepared to set students up for success in college and life.

We are excited to expand our footprint in Texas and build a team to help more high-impact charter schools with their school facilities! We are looking for two Project Managers who live in Austin, Houston, or San Antonio, to support school construction projects in Texas.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Location:  Austin, Houston, or San Antonio

Travel: Must be willing to travel weekly throughout Texas (50%)

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000

Target Start Date: Mid-September 2022

What You'll Do
  • As the primary point of contact with the school client and construction team, you will manage every step of the real estate development process.
  • Your job is focused on the full scope of every construction project:  planning design risk mitigation construction, delivery.
  • You will build a rapport with the client and contractors on the ground by modeling excellent planning/organization habits that include but aren't limited to consistently meeting deadlines, visiting the construction sites weekly in person, managing all invoices with on-time payment, and starting and ending meetings on time with a system to share next steps in writing with all stakeholders.

Here are some examples of projects you might work on:

  1. Second Phase Remodel Construction Project - A charter school management organization in Austin is building its third campus. It needs a project manager to build a strong team culture committed to excellence through solid project management skills that show you can stay on top of all the work to open their 50,000 sq ft facility for 1000 students next fall.
  2. Potential Construction Project Presentation - The business development team needs a project manager to present to a school's board meeting and meet with a principal to share more about Building Hope's model and explain the school construction process from pre-construction to delivery to help.

Phase Two Development for A New Client - A single-site charter school in year two of operations with 300 students needs your expertise to support a real estate development project that will include design, budgeting, bidding, permitting, and ongoing management of their Phase Two construction over a 10-week window next summer.
About You
  • Your commercial construction project management experience helps you quickly pull together a project plan that includes all the critical decisions and milestones to ensure the project is delivered successfully on time.

  • You are persistent and won't give up when you don't know the answer immediately.
  • You are a problem solver and know how to move things forward with limited resourcing or roadblocks.
