Work EnvironmentCollaborates with development and operations teams, focuses on CI/CD pipelinesDesigns and manages cloud infrastructure, often working on architecture and deployment
Industry UsageCommon in organizations adopting DevOps practices, tech startups, IT service providersPrevalent in companies migrating to or managing cloud-based solutions

The Devops Associate and Cloud Engineer roles share overlapping skills in cloud platforms and automation tools. However, Devops Associates typically focus on integrating development and operations processes, while Cloud Engineers concentrate on designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure. Both roles are essential in modern IT environments, with the Devops Associate often serving as an entry point into DevOps practices within cloud-centric organizations.

Is DevOps still in demand in 2026?

DevOps associates remain in high demand in 2026 due to ongoing digital transformation and the need for continuous integration and deployment. Skills in cloud platforms, automation tools, and scripting are increasingly valuable for organizations seeking efficient software delivery.

What are some common challenges faced by DevOps Associates when integrating new tools into existing workflows?

DevOps Associates often encounter challenges when integrating new tools, such as ensuring compatibility with legacy systems, maintaining security standards, and minimizing downtime during deployment. They must also coordinate closely with both development and operations teams to align on processes and avoid disruptions. Effective communication, thorough testing, and incremental rollouts are key strategies to address these challenges and ensure a smooth transition.

Is DevOps a high paying job?

DevOps Associate roles are generally considered well-paying within the tech industry, with salaries often higher than many entry-level IT positions due to the demand for skills in automation, cloud platforms, and scripting. Compensation varies based on experience, certifications, and location, but it is typically above average for similar roles in technology. Continuous learning and proficiency with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines can further enhance earning potential.

Is DevOps dead due to AI?

DevOps associates focus on automating and integrating development and operations processes, and AI tools are increasingly used to enhance automation, monitoring, and decision-making. While AI changes some workflows, it complements DevOps practices rather than replacing the need for skilled professionals in areas like CI/CD, cloud management, and infrastructure as code.

What are entry level DevOps jobs?

Entry-level DevOps jobs typically include roles such as DevOps Engineer I or Junior DevOps Engineer, focusing on tasks like automation, scripting, and monitoring. These positions often require familiarity with tools like Git, Jenkins, Docker, and basic knowledge of cloud platforms, and may require relevant certifications or a degree in computer science or related fields.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a DevOps Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a DevOps Associate, you need a solid understanding of software development, system administration, and automation, often complemented by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, as well as relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and a collaborative mindset help you work effectively with cross-functional teams and respond to evolving technical needs. These competencies enable seamless integration and deployment processes, improve system reliability, and support agile development cycles.

What are DevOps Associates?

DevOps Associates are professionals who support the integration of development and operations teams by automating workflows, improving deployment processes, and enhancing collaboration. They typically assist in managing code releases, infrastructure as code, and monitoring systems while ensuring continuous integration and delivery pipelines run smoothly. DevOps Associates often work with cloud platforms, configuration management tools, and scripting languages to optimize software development and deployment cycles. Their role is vital in reducing manual errors, increasing efficiency, and ensuring rapid delivery of high-quality software.

Operations Associate

Job Description

Location: Onsite, St Louis MO · Reports to: Director of Delivery

Overview

KNOWiNK is looking for a versatile operations professional to bring structure to a fast-moving, multi-product Delivery org. This role anchors in documentation and knowledge management while helping build and maintain the automations and processes behind our customer support model. You will research problems and recommend paths forward, build approved solutions alongside the Director of Delivery, and take responsibility for key systems and processes that keep Operations running.

Responsibilities

Documentation & Knowledge (≈25-30%)

  • Produce and maintain user guides, reference docs, and video content across products using modern authoring and video tools, for both internal teams (training, support enablement) and external clients (product how-tos, mock election prep and collection)
  • Own how documentation is organized, versioned, housed, and served across the org to support our customer support staff, and set standards for documentation

Support Operations & Tooling (≈70-75%)

  • Help build and maintain support automations and integrations (e.g., the Zendesk and Jira sync)
  • Configure and improve customer-facing Zendesk portals
  • Own and improve core support systems and processes
  • Turn complex data into dashboards and reports for Operations and Sales
  • Support process design, standardization, and integration of new products and teams
  • Act as a flexible execution partner across competing priorities
  • Throughout the election cycle (pre, during, and post), help monitor, support, and coordinate across teams to surface and resolve issues

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years in operations, support, delivery, or a comparable cross-functional role
  • AI-forward and a fast learner; able to build with modern, low-code tools and manage a developer to the finish line (coding not required)
  • Strong, clear writer who can organize information so others can find and trust it
  • Comfortable researching a problem, recommending paths forward, and building the approved solution
  • Adaptable and quick on their feet, with genuine comfort in ambiguity and context switching
  • Self-directed within scope, and equally able to take direction and run with it
  • Experience with tools like Zendesk, Jira, and ADO a plus
  • Interest in elections or govtech a bonus
