Rice Companies is looking for a Market Development Manager to join the team at our Cedar Falls, IA location. The Market Development Manager is responsible for driving growth and expanding the company's presence in their market. This role focuses on developing new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, pipeline development, and aligning regional strategies with overall corporate goals. The Market Development Manager collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to execute strategies that support business growth and maintain a strong market presence.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop comprehensive strategies based on market potential, company service offerings and differentiators.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads that align with the company's overall goals and vision, collaborating closely with senior leadership.
  • Analyze market trends and community needs to identify new opportunities
  • Spend a significant amount of time engaging with customers in-person to educate on the services, features, and benefits of the company to drive repeat business.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, acting as a trusted advisor to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Work closely with preconstruction and operations teams to support clients throughout the project lifecycle ensuring client satisfaction
  • Represent the company at community events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the brand and attract potential clients.
  • Support proposal development, customer presentations, and project interviews

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated relatable commercial construction, sales, or experience in the architectural and engineering industry.
  • 3+ years of business development experience
  • Ability to develop successful strategies for building long-term client relationships.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills with a consultative approach.
  • Skilled in negotiating deals and presenting compelling value propositions to clients.
  • Understanding of the local market, including key influencers, competitors, and business opportunities.
  • Ability to interpret market data and use insights to drive growth strategies.
  • Proficiency in CRM software
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes, design-build methodologies, and local market dynamics is preferred.
  • PEMB (pre-engineered metal buildings) experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Construction Management delivery methods for Iowa public projects is a plus
