Main Purpose of Job

This position's responsibilities include:\r\n\r\n\r\n Helping each person meet their personal outcomes\r\n Successfully completing all\r\n Inservice Training modules inclusive of classroom, demonstrated competencies and CNA related\r\n Full\r\n compliance with applicable policies and procedures relating to both individual care as well as identified outcomes and measures in place in furtherance of same\r\n Provision of quality services in such\r\n representative areas as equipment utilization, data collection, personal hygiene, and programming\r\n Matching newly-acquired skills to enhance growth and development of persons served per their\r\n Individualized Plan (IP) goals\r\n Discharging all duties and conducting oneself at all times per\r\n all relevant Regulations, Standards, Policies and Procedures including Departments of Budget and\r\n Management and Mental Health and Hygiene; Title 17 CODE OF MARYLAND REGULATIONS; Office\r\n of Health Care Quality; ICF-ID; Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; CNA Certification/statutory\r\n requirements; The Mandt System; and Potomac Center/SETT\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:Five years of\r\nexperience providing residential services in a developmental disability or\r\nsimilar behavior modification setting.\r\n\r\n\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the\r\ncompletion of 60 credit hoursfrom an accredited college or university\r\nwith a minimum of 15 credit hours in health or human services, education or the\r\nbehavioral sciences and three years of experience providing residential\r\nservices in a developmental disability or similar behavior modification setting\r\nfor the requiredexperience.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the\r\npossession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or\r\nuniversity with a specialization in the treatment of developmental disabilities\r\nin a mental health or closely related curriculum to include a supervised\r\nclinical practicum in a developmental disability or similar behavior\r\nmodification setting and two years of experience providing residential services\r\nin a developmental disability or similar behavior modification setting for the\r\nrequired experience.\r\n\r\n3.Candidates may substitute the\r\npossession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with\r\na specialization in the treatment of developmental disabilities in a mental\r\nhealth or closely related curriculum to include a supervised clinical practicum\r\nin a developmental disability or similar behavior modification setting for the\r\nrequired experience\r\n4. Candidates may\r\nsubstitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned\r\nofficer in Hospital Corpsman classifications or Health Care Specialist\r\nandMedical Services specialty codes in the health related field\r\nofwork on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience supervising direct care staff\r\n Experience working with the intellectually disabled population\r\n Experience working with a forensic population\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.Candidates for positions in\r\nthis classification must possess a current certificateas a Nursing\r\nAssistant from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue,\r\nBaltimore, MD 21215. Persons appointed to a position in this\r\nclassification without certification as a Nursing Assistant must successfully\r\ncomplete a Board of Nursing approved nursing assistanttraining program\r\nand receive certification as a Nursing Assistant within sixmonths from\r\ndate of hire prior to performing delegated nursing tasks. Appointees who\r\nfail to successfully complete this requirement will not beretained in\r\nthese positions.\r\n\r\n2.Employees in this\r\nclassification may be required to successfully complete training in and\r\nmaintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this\r\nclassification are subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, will be\r\nrequired to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can\r\nbe reached.\r\n\r\n
