Development Social Worker Jobs in Colorado (NOW HIRING)

Qualifications: 

• Must hold or be eligible to be licensed by Colorado Department of Education, Special Service Provider endorsed as School Social Worker 

• LCSW preferred

Job Summary:      

School Social workers are essential members of the special education team. They provide mental health services to students on IEP's attending PPBOCES member districts. School Social Workers within the PPBOCES are required to travel to assigned work sites in their own personal vehicles. Mileage Stipends are provided according to Board Policy.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

• Work Collaboratively with School Psychologist and District Special Education teams.  

• Provide direct individualized or group mental health services to students who qualify based on their Individualized Education Plan.  

• Provide progress monitoring towards goals and update IEP progress reports and summaries for annual IEP's and evaluations.  

• Maintain documentation of services and notes through PPBOCES designated data management system 

• Complete qualitative observation notes and work with teachers to generalize skills and gather data. 

• Provide crisis response within schools as needed-completion of risk screeners and assessments 

• Support team in gathering background data including social/developmental histories and parent interviews.  

• This includes the ability to interpret data collaboratively write goals based on needs for students determined eligible for special education based on the Colorado's Exceptional Children's Educational Act (ECEA).  

• Ability to navigate software designed for the writing of IEPs.  

• Ensure due process rights and procedures across the Pikes Peak BOCES. 

• Recommend, implement or monitor appropriate interventions for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.  

• Support team with completion of Functional Behavior Analysis and Development of Behavior Intervention Plans 

• Support connection of students and families to access community resources and agencies 

• Support districts in building connections and partnerships with community agencies 

• A strong understanding of positive behavior support principles 

• Model positive and respectful rapport 

• Respect diversity among others. 

• Understand their role and responsibility in implementing the District, Department and/or Building Action Plan.  

• Follow PPBOCES and District policies.  

• Promote the concept of Professional Learning Communities through purposeful involvement.  

• May support building MTSS teams through consultation  

• Follow all professional and ethical guidelines for Social Workers within the scope of CDE licensed Special Service Providers. This includes duties around mandated reporting, professional boundaries, and relationships   

• Other duties as assigned 

Evaluation:  

Evaluation: This position shall be evaluated in accordance with the Colorado State Model System for Evaluation of Special Service Providers.  

Contract: This is an exempt, licensed, certified position with 179 contact days based on PPBOCES calendar.  Personal leave days are provided in accordance with district policy.   

Salary: The salary placement shall be on the Licensed Staff Salary Schedule pursuant to education and experience. Starting salary Step 1 with MSW $60,053 

Working Conditions: 

1. Some light lifting, standing, and climbing. 

2. Access to working vehicles for travel to assigned job sites requires driving up to 51 miles one way.  

3. All required license(s) must be maintained in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment. Any employee may be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the emergency.
