Introduction
Prince William County Department of Development Services is seeking a dynamic, solutions-oriented professional to join our Land Development Division as a Development Services Team Lead - Planner in our Bonds and Land Permit Section. This role offers the opportunity to perform meaningful, challenging, and rewarding work while leading projects, guiding teams, and helping shape the County's development processes. The Land Development Counter Team Leader works under the supervision of the County's Bonds Administrator and will lead a staff of four Development Services Technicians. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, come join us in Development Services!
About This Role: As the Land Development Team Leader, your major responsibilities will be:
  • Monitor workload and staff scheduling, assist with developing written procedures, ensure compliance with established processes and procedures, and provide training and staff support
  • Deed/Plat Intake & Process
  • Lot Escrow Process and Releases
  • Bonds & Escrow Intake Assistance when needed
  • Cash Handling and Reconciliation

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Land Development Counters, making appropriate work assignments and recommending/developing process improvements
  • Providing exemplary customer service to developers, engineers and the general public
  • Compiling and auditing the daily cash transactions and financial reports for the Treasury Management Department
  • Compute and collect applicable fees and make daily cash deposits, and update accounts and payment data in our information system
  • Perform quality control review and tracking of bonds and escrows applications, reductions and extensions requests and sureties' verifications in accordance with regulations;
  • Provide information, review permit applications and related supporting materials and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable procedures, standards, codes, and regulations
  • Respond to general application questions, permit inquiries, and requests by phone, written correspondence, or in-person customer interactions, using established procedures, codes, and standards, while directing unresolved issues to the appropriate personnel
  • Occasionally, backup for the Land Development Counter

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related experience in Bonds, Escrows, Land Development, Land Use, Planning/Zoning, Construction, or other related field.
Preferences:
  • Local Government Experience,
  • Experience creating workflows and managing work processes,
  • experience in cash handling procedures

Special Requirements:
Valid Driver's License
Ability to pass a DMV Records Check
Work Schedule: Exempt-level position that works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, 37.5 hours per week. This position can telework 1 day per week after an initial probationary period.
Starting Salary Range:
$70,921.00 - $90,096.87
