Job description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis - every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.
About This Role
As the largest provider of PHP/IOP programs and psychiatric services in Illinois, Compass Health Center is one of the fastest-growing behavioral health organizations in the country. We are thrilled to expand our exceptionally innovative and highly distinguished programs that redefine our industry and raise the standard for comprehensive care.
Launching in early 2027, our newest location in Falls Church, VA, will be home to top local talent in behavioral health care. This interdisciplinary team of trailblazers will build our adolescent and adult programs from the ground up alongside the leadership of well-established clinicians and doctors working in PHP/IOP behavioral health care for the past decade.
As we prepare to open our Falls Church facility, we are seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead our Adult and Adolescent Programs. In partnership with the rest of the Falls Church Leadership Team, this rolewill play a key role in building and shaping a strong culture at the location, while offering direct coaching and development to our team.
Please note: this role is anticipated to start in November 2026, and will be 100% onsite at our Falls Church location
What You'll Do:
  • Providing direct managerial oversight to Associate Directors, Primary Therapists, Family Therapists, Group Therapists, and other staff within programs. Lead and assist with other programs as needed
  • Identifying hiring/staffing needs and participating in interviewing and hiring process
  • Executing new hire onboarding and staff development
  • Initiating employee performance appraisal and staff performance improvement program compliance with accrediting bodies
  • Leading the day-to-day execution of policies and procedures as well as the mission and objectives of Compass
  • Managing program paid time off to ensure adequate staffing patterns
  • Managing Program Intake schedule with assistance from VP and Site Leader
  • Responding to clinical crises as needed and coordinating response of others
  • Oversees the implementation of program material and curriculum
  • As indicated, participating in community outreach
  • Overseeing calls about program eligibility and appropriateness. Ensures referrals are provided as needed
  • Conducting clinical intakes to identify clinical diagnoses, functional impairment, personal strengths and make treatment recommendations; charting progress of patients appropriately; providing group, individual, and family therapy, as needed
  • Communicating with patient's family members or support system, as needed; coordinating care with patient's outside providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Assessing patient's progress and need for higher level of care or discharge
  • Engaging in frequent communication and collaboration with team members via rounds, EMR notes, emails, and face-to-face communication
  • Participating in professional development activities
  • Providing individual, family or group therapy as needed
  • Providing clinical supervision

Who You Are:
  • Masters prepared independently licensed clinician or licensed Doctorate level clinician
  • Must be approved by the Virginia Board as an eligible clinical supervisor
  • Experience developing and managing programs and clinical teams
  • Experience supervising therapists, both licensed and seeing licensure
  • Knowledge and experience of group dynamics utilizing CBT, ACT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, among other effective and efficacious treatments
  • Experience with patients in crisis
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Experience with program target population in group and individual therapy settings

This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications. Compass reserves the right to update these ranges.
This role may also be eligible for an annual bonus which is dependent upon individual and company performance.
Compensation
$115,000-$135,000 USD
