The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District announces an opening for an Instructional Services Director III - Professional Development position. The Director of Professional Development supports adult learning across the District through the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of administrators, certificated leaders, teaching staff, and classified instructional employees. The Instructional Services Director III - Professional Development will be under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conceptualizes the design and delivery of professional development for district-wide initiatives related to teaching and learning, organizational development, leadership, and technology integration into classroom instruction.
2. Consults with administrators, teachers, and other departments to determine current and anticipated professional development needs.
3. Establishes learning objectives and goals for professional development sessions and develops workshop outlines, appropriate training materials, and timelines.
4. Determines the appropriate instructional methods and content for training sessions, utilizing knowledge of identified District needs, adult learning theory, and best practices in professional development.
5. Designs and presents staff development sessions to different employee groups covering specific areas such as leadership development, instructional best practices, and school improvement initiatives.
6. Develops and monitors the implementation of appropriate follow up activities for training sessions designed to help participants apply and integrate what they are learning.
7. Schedules and markets training sessions to internal and external stakeholders, develops registration procedures, prepares training facilities, and coordinates other practical elements involved with planning professional development activities.
8. Manages the processes and tools by which employees track their growth and progress, including a Learning Management System, Individualized Learning Plans, and completion records.
9. Manages assigned budgets and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and fiscal practices are followed.
10. Builds a cadre of effective presenters by coaching and coordinating the selection of District staff to be trainers and identifying, securing, and overseeing high quality external consultants.
11. Monitors and reports on professional development services (e.g. consultants, course outcomes, evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that performance outcomes are achieved according to District objectives.
12. Researches a variety of information (e.g. courses, materials, trainings, consultants, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of developing new offerings that meet staff training needs.
13. Supervises principals and provides mentoring, professional development, and support.
14. Coordinates the District Induction program for the purpose of onboarding new teachers, fostering staff growth, and ensuring program compliance for teacher credentialing.
15. Participates in meetings, workshops and out-of-town conferences for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
16. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the objectives of the position.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Valid California Teaching Credential
2. Valid Administrative Services Credential
3. Master's degree from an accredited university with major coursework in Education or related field. Doctorate in Education is desired and may substitute for some experience.
4. At least five years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably at more than one grade level.
5. Adminstrator experience required.

SALARY AND TERMS OF SERVICE

Annual Salary $148,003  - $179,422 (9) steps, 261 working days per year, eight (8) hours per day. Placement on the salary schedule is determined by number of years of relative administrative experience.  $2,000/year stipend for Doctorate Degree. Additional days, evenings/weekends as needed to perform related job duties and responsibilities. The district currently contributes $22,006.20 for family, dental, medical, and vision insurance plans; life insurance plan for the employee only.
