What is a development company?

A development company is a business organization that specializes in creating and delivering various types of projects, such as software applications, real estate developments, or infrastructure solutions. These companies typically manage the entire development process, from initial concept and planning to design, execution, and delivery. Control Concepts, Inc.

Job description

If youโ€™re someone who connects naturally with both clients and teams, brings structure to execution, and takes pride in delivering results the right way, you've come to the right place!

Control Concepts, Inc. is offering a unique opportunity for a career-driven professional who takes ownership of project delivery and ensures work is performed in a way that balances client success, team effectiveness, and overall business performance, while maintaining strong relationships on all sides. This role sits at the intersection of client experience, team enablement, and business performance.

You must have an interest in supporting and guiding software developers, building trust with clients, and making decisions that keep projects moving forward, without waiting to be told what to do. You will be expected to take ownership of outcomes, not just track tasks.

You do not need to be a software developer. However, you must understand what it takes to manage priorities, break down work, and deliver results in a technical environment.

As audiovisual (AV) control continues to evolve toward low-code and no-code software solutions, API integration is crucial to the success of integration projects. Control Concepts has been blending software development with AV control platforms for decades, helping manufacturers deliver reliable API integrations through modules, drivers, and plugins that AV programmers depend on.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage project delivery across multiple concurrent development efforts
  • Align client expectations, business priorities, and development capacity
  • Break down project requirements into clear, actionable tasks
  • Coordinate work across the development team with clarity and consistency
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication
  • Support and enable developers by providing structure, removing obstacles, and fostering growth
  • Identify risks, delays, and bottlenecks, and take ownership of resolving them
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in a way that supports profitability
  • Establish and refine processes that improve efficiency and consistency
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment between sales commitments and delivery execution

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing projects, operations, or delivery in a business or technical environment
  • Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to connect with both clients and team members
  • Business-minded with an understanding of priorities, trade-offs, and profitability
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage expectations and build trust
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Ability to break down complex work into manageable steps and drive execution
  • Experience working with or coordinating technical teams (software, AV, IT, or similar)
  • Self-motivated, organized, accountable, and proactive
  • Balanced approach between supporting people and driving results
  • AV industry knowledge and experience preferred

Additional Considerations:

  • This is a hands-on role in a small team. You are expected to contribute, not observe.
  • You must be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and adjusting as needed.
  • If you prefer highly structured environments with clearly defined boundaries for every task, this role will not be a fit.
  • If you take pride in creating clarity where it does not exist and helping others succeed, you will thrive here.

This position is for a remote worker. Control Concepts operates as a distributed team with headquarters in NJ and team members across the U.S. Success in this role requires the ability to work independently, communicate proactively, and operate with minimal oversight while contributing to a collaborative, close-knit team aligned to an East Coast schedule.

How to Apply

To be considered, submit a cover letter along with your resume and include:

  • The word that best describes your management style in [square brackets] in your subject line
  • Ranking of Team, Clients, and Company in priority order (no ties) and briefly explain your reasoning (1 - 2 sentences)

Only candidates who follow these instructions will be considered.

About Control Concepts:

Founded in 1997, Control Concepts is the premier AV software development company and the leader in integrating manufacturersโ€™ products with audiovisual control system platforms through the development of drivers, modules, plugins, middleware, and applications. The value these offerings provide eases the effort for integrators and programmers seeking to control devices through robust APIs and simplifies compatibility for third-party manufacturersโ€™ devices.

As a small business, each member is a vital component and directly impacts the company's success. Good character, work ethic, dedication, and potential are as important characteristics in a candidate as experience and skills. Teamwork, collaboration, customer service, and a commitment to quality are the cornerstones of our success.

At Control Concepts, we believe that team members donโ€™t need to differentiate between their work and personal lives. Each team member is treated as an individual and managed with care and consideration for the complete person, taking into account their needs both at work and at home.

Benefits include health insurance, a 401 (k), paid holidays, sick and vacation time, a caring and comfortable environment, and long-term career potential.
