About Us
Action Against Hunger USA (ACF USA) is part of the Action Against Hunger International network, a global leader in the fight against hunger operating in over 50 countries with programs focused on nutrition, health, climate resilience, food security, and emergency response. We manage operations in Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia, and Haiti, working alongside communities to address the root causes of hunger and strengthen resilience.
We are seeking a Communications Associate to support content development, storytelling, knowledge management, and communications coordination within our External Relations team.
About the Role
The Communications Associate will support Action Against Hunger's communications strategy by helping develop written content, maintain key communications tools, and support internal coordination across the Communications team.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, this role will assist with writing, editing, website content, media monitoring, presentations, team knowledge management, and project coordination. The Communications Associate will help create and organize communications materials that increase brand visibility, support public engagement, and highlight Action Against Hunger's humanitarian work.
This role is ideal for an early-career communications professional with strong writing and editing skills, interest in humanitarian issues, strong attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support communications knowledge management, including fact sheets, spokesperson trackers, data trackers, project management platforms, asset libraries, media mentions, and other internal tools.
  • Draft, edit, and support communications collateral, background documents, and written materials.
  • Support the Associate Director of Communications with PowerPoint presentations and internal communications materials.
  • Draft and enter website content using WordPress and SEO tools.
  • Take notes during expert briefings and team meetings to support communications planning and content development.
  • Monitor media outlets, program updates, and sector information, and share relevant summaries with the team.
  • Contribute to the weekly editorial calendar.
  • Support content development for the website, digital marketing, social media, traditional media, and other communications channels.
  • Work collaboratively and diplomatically with External Relations colleagues, field teams, and global network partners.
