Job description

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management provides a range of wealth management products and services for affluent individuals, businesses, and institutions. These services include brokerage and investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement and trust.

Department

The Alternative Investments product area within Investment Solutions is responsible for sourcing, manufacturing, developing, managing, and marketing alternative investment products/investments, such as:

  • Hedge Funds

  • Funds of Hedge Funds

  • Managed Futures

  • Private Equity

  • Private Credit

  • Real Estate Funds

  • Exchange Funds

  • Real Assets

Alternative Investments has approximately $250+ billion in assets under management. The primary users/investors include high net worth wealth management clients and their Advisors.

Position Summary

The employee will join the Product Origination and Development team within Alternative Investments (Investment Solutions). The role will focus on onboarding and maintaining alternative investment offerings and partnering closely with fund managers, MSWM Advisors, MSWM Field Management, and other Morgan Stanley stakeholders. The employee will also support analytical projects for the Alternative Investments organization.

This position works cross-functionally - including Sales and Marketing, Global Investment Manager Analysis, Legal, Operations, and Finance. Responsibilities will span tactical, deal-related deliverables as well as longer-term initiatives such as manager sourcing and strategic development.

Projects will include supporting investment product launches-executing placement agreements, tailoring offering and marketing materials, and presenting to Product Committees. The employee will also help enhance and maintain key metrics and reporting to enable management to monitor business health and identify new opportunities.

Experience

  • 3 years of financial services industry experience

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; detail oriented

  • Ability to manage and complete multiple and simultaneous projects with tight deadlines

  • Ability to understand, implement, monitor and improve upon key financial and business metrics

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills; ability to work effectively in senior management settings

  • Must be a team player, with the ability to work independently

  • Ability to represent the firm professionally with internal and external constituents

  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $70,000 and $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
