Job description

About the Position: This is a developmental position working under closer than normal supervision at the journeyman level performing assignments similar to the duties of the full performance Engineering Technician which includes, exercising program management responsibility for contracting and maintenance activities of the project. The work increases in difficulty, complexity, and responsibility as the incumbent gains experience and demonstrates a full comprehension of the target level position.Qualifications:

Specialized Experience for Engineering Technician GS-802-10: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assisting in the review of project plans and specifications for technical adequacy and compliance with established engineering standards. Supporting contract administration by monitoring contractor progress, documenting performance, and reviewing payment requests for accuracy. Conducting site inspections of construction or maintenance projects to gather data on work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project requirements. Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, technical reports, and correspondence related to engineering and construction activities.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
