Job Description

We are seeking a Controls Engineer for our Salisbury, North Carolina Plant.

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Recommend equipment improvements and/or manufacturing methods that would result in improved quality or greater efficiency.
  • Coordinate all mechanical / electrical system modifications with external vendors, maintenance personnel and Facility Engineering Manager in regard to automation control.
  • Organize and maintain all system documentation (mechanical/electrical prints, software documentation and backups, path problems, robot configurations and parameters and configuration parameters).
  • Outline and maintain maintenance practices for automated systems and programs.
  • Design and implement software, electrical and mechanical automated systems from concept to full development and production launch.
  • Support and assist maintenance personnel with diagnosing software and electrical system problems.
  • Support Multiple PLC and electrical controlled automated systems.
  • Design, implement and support all human machine interface (HMI) hardware and software for automated systems.
  • Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge to design, build, repair, calibrate, and/or modify electrical components, circuitry, controls and machinery.
  • Review equipment for electrical and electronic controls and recommend action to implement.
  • Assist in upgrading equipment.
  • Develop control-wiring schematics and maintain files.
  • Maintain all electrical and electrical upgrades on software and in hard copy in an orderly manner.
  • Maintain back-up files for all PLC and Robotic programs in an orderly manner.
  • Create documentation for production support and data collection.
  • Recommend stock items and quantities for equipment spare parts and production materials.
  • Recommend preventative maintenance items and schedules for equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least five years of experience in the practical application of engineering technologies to manufacturing processes with emphasis on automation, programming, vision systems, and control systems.
  • Trouble-shoot and program robotics, PLC's, and electronics with automated equipment or machinery.
  • Experienced in an engineering field within a manufacturing environment.
  • Competence with PLCs, including programming.
  • Competence in personal computer Windows applications including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Technical leadership.
