Job description

The group you'll be a part of
The SEM Lab in Tualatin is committed to providing best-in-class microscopy services to support Lam's engineering and development efforts. Through technical development and continuous improvement we solve difficult analysis problems and leverage efficiencies to increase our throughput and reduce our time to data.
The impact you'll make
As a technician in the SEM Lab, you will be supporting Lam's various business groups with rapid data turn arounds that will enable faster time to solution for Lam engineering to serve our customers. Productive internal microscopy work not only reduces turn times but also lowers the cost to Lam compared to outside providers. Productive techs help win business opportunities and lower costs for the companies, a win-win!
This is a front end night shift position, Sunday through Tuesday, alternating Saturdays 12 hour compressed.
What you'll do
Primary responsibility for this position is the preparation of STEM/TEM samples and imaging of samples in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) using Thermo Fisher Helios systems. Additional responsibilities may include FIB-SEM analysis.
  • Follow lab methodology for STEM sample preparation consistent with quality standards.
  • Optimize personal workflow for efficient throughput of samples.
  • Communication with lab management to provide work completion time estimates.
  • Provide feedback to lab management for continuous improvement opportunities in lab workflows.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure alignment on methodologies.
  • Protect customer material and IP at all times.

Who we're looking for
  • 2+ years of experience with a BS degree in a physical science, or a specialized AS degree or equivalent professional training on materials science and analytical techniques.
  • Experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools, especially in the preparation of thin lamella for STEM or TEM imaging.
  • Familiarity with key developments and materials in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Experience in customer IP protection and sample handling is a plus.
  • Ability to work a shift schedule.

Preferred qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools for the preparation of lamella for STEM or TEM imaging.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in a physical science.
  • Associate degree with complementary work experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor industry is a plus.

Our commitment
We believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. By bringing unique individuals and viewpoints together, we achieve extraordinary results.
