Developer Relations (DevRel) is a field focused on building relationships between a company and its developer community. It involves advocacy, education, and support to help developers succeed with the company's products or tools. DevRel professionals create content, engage with developers, provide feedback to internal teams, and foster community growth. Their goal is to enhance developer experience, drive product adoption, and bridge the gap between developers and the organization.
A typical day in Developer Relations often involves creating technical content such as blog posts, tutorials, or sample code, while also engaging directly with the developer community through events, forums, and social media. You might attend meetings with product and engineering teams to relay community feedback and discuss product improvements. Additionally, Developer Relations professionals frequently present at conferences, lead webinars, and contribute to open-source projects to foster both awareness and adoption. This role is highly collaborative, requiring coordination between marketing, product, and technical teams to ensure the developer community’s needs are met effectively.
To thrive as a Developer Relations professional, you need a strong background in software development, technical communication, and community engagement, often backed by experience in programming and a relevant technical degree. Familiarity with developer tools, cloud platforms, open-source technologies, and experience using platforms like GitHub or Stack Overflow are commonly required. Excellent public speaking, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships help you advocate effectively for both developers and internal teams. These skills are essential for bridging the gap between a company’s engineering teams and the broader developer community, ensuring effective communication and mutual success.

About the Team
The Platform Marketing team is where product strategy, product marketing, and developer relations come together. This team shapes the narrative, momentum, and market presence for one of Workday's fastest-growing areas: the developer platform.About the Role
As a Technical Product Marketer for the Developer Platform, you will be the developer voice within Platform Marketing. You will help ensure that every developer-facing message, demo, blog post, launch asset, and keynote narrative is technically credible, specific, and useful.
In this role, you will shape and create technical content across Workday Build, Workday AI Platform, and the agent ecosystem. You will translate platform complexity into clear, developer-native narratives that help builders understand what is possible with Workday. Your work will support launches, developer education, community engagement, and broader go-to-market planning.
You will also serve as a key advisor to Platform Marketing leadership. When new capabilities are being planned or positioned, you will help assess whether the story works from a developer's point of view. You will identify gaps in messaging, product experience, or technical clarity before they reach the market.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Owning developer-facing technical content across the platform, including hands-on demos, technical blogs, solution briefs, API narratives, and developer documentation direction.
Serving as a technical reviewer and creator for go-to-market strategy, helping ensure platform messaging is accurate, credible, and meaningful to developer audiences.
Translating complex platform capabilities across Workday Build, Workday AI Platform, and the agent ecosystem into clear narratives that developers can understand and use.
Partnering closely with Developer Relations to understand the needs, feedback, and priorities of developers building in the Workday ecosystem.
Collaborating with portfolio product management to stay connected to the roadmap, understand new capabilities before launch, and bring a developer and market perspective to product positioning.
Helping raise the quality of developer-facing content by building what is missing, improving what exists, and setting a clear bar for technical credibility.
About You
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in product marketing, technical marketing, developer marketing, developer relations, product management, or a related role.
Minimum 3 years of experience creating technical content for developer or technical audiences, such as demos, blogs, documentation, solution briefs, API content, or launch materials.
Minimum 3 years of experience working with software platforms, developer tools, APIs, integrations, cloud applications, AI platforms, or enterprise technology.
Experience partnering with product management, engineering, developer relations, marketing, or go-to-market teams to bring technical products to market.
Experience translating technical capabilities into clear messaging, positioning, and content for external audiences.
Other Qualifications
Strong understanding of developer audiences, including how developers evaluate platforms, learn new tools, and decide whether a product is credible and useful.
Skilled in technical storytelling, with the ability to explain complex platform capabilities in a way that is clear, specific, and grounded in real developer use cases.
Experience creating hands-on or developer-facing assets, such as demos, technical blogs, API narratives, tutorials, launch content, or solution briefs.
Ability to work across cross-functional teams, including Developer Relations, product management, engineering, and marketing, to align on priorities and improve the developer experience.
Curiosity and comfort working with emerging technology areas such as AI platforms, agents, orchestration, data platforms, integrations, or enterprise application development.

Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
