A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Training and Standards Engineering Manager reports to the Senior Director Engineering-NA Transmission. This position is responsible for developing and managing the training and mentoring program for the NA Transmission product line; this position is also responsible for developing and documenting standards and best practices, including responsibility for leading efforts to update the Engineering Design Manual. Training and development engineers report directly to the Training and Standards Engineering Manager. Coordinating with the assigned mentors, the Training and Standards Engineering Manager is responsible for tracking engineers progress until they have demonstrated ability to work independently.

Essential Functions:

  • Report to the Senior Director, Engineering - NA Transmission and manage direct reports.

  • Travel up to 20% (domestic and international, including overnight stays).

  • Partner with Site Engineering Managers and Supervisors to support development of new engineers.

  • Develop standardized training programs for associate and design engineers.

  • Assess training needs and deliver training programs for engineers.

  • Provide leadership and technical support to team members and internal/external customers.

  • Lead performance management activities, including reviews, goal setting, development plans, mentoring, and succession planning.

  • Collaborate with the Engineering Systems team to improve systems and design tools by providing written specifications and testing for system enhancements.

  • Lead or support special technical projects as needed.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement approved changes.

  • Deliver performance feedback and evaluate team members.

  • Support departmental initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Maintain effective coordination with cross-functional teams.

  • Utilize project management tools (e.g., JIRA) to manage tasks and initiatives.

  • Support recruitment and interviewing activities.

  • Assist engineers in resolving production and field issues.

Required Qualifications for Every Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Strong background in structural/civil design, preferably in tubular steel structures or line design.

  • Understanding of product application, design principles, fabrication, welding processes, and quality standards.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and planning skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and process-development capabilities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and results-driven mindset.

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Leadership training program.

  • Seven (7) years of experience in product engineering.

  • Four (4) years of experience in project management.

  • Ten (10) years of related engineering experience.
