We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager 2 based out of Woodland Hills, CA leading the Model-Based Requirements and Architectures team. Our success is grounded in our ability to embrace change, move quickly and continuously drive innovation. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation. This is a fully onsite position located in Woodland Hills, CA working a 9/80 schedule.
What You'll get to Do:
  • Manage a team of Systems Engineers supporting the model-based development and management of requirements and architectures of inertial navigation systems
  • Own and continuously improve processes defining Model-Based Systems Engineering best practices
  • Interface with program leads to coordinate staffing requirements and ensure proper skill mix is provided to execution teams in timely fashion
  • Provide guidance and oversight in developing technical and cost proposals
  • Mentor direct reports and drive their professional growth through goal setting and career planning
  • Responsible for all manager related activities including, but not limited to: conducting performance and salary reviews, approving timecards, performance management, and working closely with HR on elevated employee matters

Basic Qualifications Model Based Systems Engineering Manager 2 - Requirements and Architectures:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and best practices
  • Experience leading a team on a technical development effort or technical production support
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering and project management tools such as DOORS, MS Project, etc.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Experience with generating and/or reviewing cost estimates/basis of estimates (BOEs)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance is required within a timeframe set forth by management
  • Must be able to work full-time onsite in Woodland Hills, CA.

Preferred Qualifications Model Based Systems Engineering Manager 2 - Requirements and Architectures:
  • Master's Degree in a technical field with 6 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment or PHD with 3 years of experience
  • Development and implementation of processes to ensure product development efficiency and accuracy
  • Experience in inertial sensor development, fiber optics, ring laser gyros, and sensor electronics
  • A proven track record of leading a team of engineers and of establishing strong relationships with other functional organizations and Program Offices
  • Experienced with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, such as Siemens Teamcenter Enterprise
  • Experienced with failure analysis techniques and methods (RCCAs)
  • Technical project management with budget/EVMS experience
  • Demonstrated success with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) philosophies and tools
  • Experience with authoring and reviewing technical proposals
  • Experience with engineering planning, scheduling, metrics, earned value systems, and workload forecasting
  • Active DoD Secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,100.00 - $241,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
