The Manager, Technical Operations & Engineering, is a key leader supporting Concentrates processing facilities, responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring alignment between technical, operational, and business unit objectives. The role provides technical leadership, engineering oversight, strategic direction, and project management to achieve site goals in EHS, production, maintenance, cost, and quality. Leading a multidisciplinary team, this position delivers safe and effective engineering services with emphasis on phosphoric acid and other critical processes, while supporting front-end project development, commissioning, and optimization of capital and operational initiatives. The Manager, Technical Operations & Engineering will work closely with operations, maintenance, and internal and external customers to identify and close performance gaps, prioritize improvement opportunities, and reduce downtime through enhanced automation, controls, equipment upgrades, and systematic problem-solving. This role establishes and monitors site-level objectives, ensures cross-functional alignment, and provides mentorship, guidance, and direction to engineering and technical staff. In addition, the Manager, Technical Operations & Engineering will champion safety and environmental expectations and ensure all engineering and operational activities support the long-term performance, reliability, and strategic goals of the business. Lastly, the Manager will have direct access to Site General Manager and will be included as part of his/her leadership team to collectively establish goals and set direction for the Site.

What you'll do:

Technical Leadership & Operational Performance:

  • Provides technical direction and advances process expertise to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance gaps across phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, granulation, and related production processes.
  • Lead efforts to improve production stability, sustain demonstrated capability, and support ongoing operational performance through strategic data- driven analysis and problem solving.
  • Drive day to day performance adherence for SOCL, recovery, cost, etc.

Engineering Management & Capital Project Execution:

  • Oversee front-end engineering development for capital projects, including scoping, option evaluation, preliminary design, and economic and risk assessment.
  • Lead commissioning, startup, and optimization activities for assigned projects, ensuring designs follow safety, environmental, and operational requirements while improving capacity, reliability, and equipment performance.

Strategic Alignment & Continuous Improvement Leadership:

  • Drive alignment of technical and engineering initiatives with site-level and business-unit strategic priorities in EHS, production, maintenance, cost, and quality.
  • Lead and facilities cross-functional teams which include Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Commercial, and Asset Integrity to advance stability, improvement initiatives, and CI/COE programs across facilities.

Talent Development, Leadership & Safety Stewardship:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical professionals.
  • Strengthen technical capabilities, support career development, and ensure consistent application of engineering and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce strong environmental, health, and safety expectations through audits, risk, assessments, and daily leadership behaviors.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in manufacturing, mining, chemical processing, or related industries
  • Experience in operations management, project management, and continuous improvement.
  • People leadership experience required; experience in engineering or operations leadership preferred.
  • Strong understanding of phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, fertilizer production, or similar process industries (preferred).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problemsolving abilities.
  • Ability to lead crossfunctional groups and influence at all levels.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in process control systems, PI Data Historian, Maximo, statistical tools (Minitab), and engineering/operations software.

Bonus if you have the following:

  • Business acumen to understand the workings of supply chain, commercial, third parties and Minerals.
  • Experience with OIS, PI, Maximo, Minitab,
  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Process Control Systems
