Columbia State is recruiting a motivated Desktop Support Technician with strong Windows and hardware skills to join our desktop support team.

This position requires a proactive, self-motivated individual who can support a varied set of technology devices including pc's (desktop and laptop), printers, and software installations, and is comfortable traveling to various locations to provide hands-on technical assistance.

This in-person position is based at the Lawrenceburg, TN Campus. However the incumbent will be expected to travel to other campuses frequently.

Job Purpose:

This position will provide technical support for all personal computers on every campus including repair of hardware, software and printers and user support and assistance. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Technical Support
    1. Provide desktop support for Window-based systems, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
    2. Maintain Microsoft Office 365 applications, operating systems, and other business-critical software.
    3. Assist in setting up and maintaining user accounts, permissions, and profiles in Active Directory.
    4. Diagnose and resolve support issues using a service desk system.
  1. Multi-campus Support
    1. Travel to various campus locations to resolve technical issues, set up hardware, and perform routine maintenance.
    2. Ensure timely resolution of issues to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity.
  1. Hardware and Software Management
    1. Diagnose and repair desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral hardware
    2. Collaborate with vendor/suppliers to ensure adequate hardware/software inventory within timely replacement cycles
  1. Documentation and Communication
    1. Document issues, resolutions, and changes in ticketing or service desk systems
    2. Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical users
  1. Collaboration
    1. Work closely with senior IT staff to escalate complex issues and participate in system upgrades or migrations
    2. Assist with training users on basic software and system operations as needed

 

Education, Training and Experience Required:

Associates degree in related field, AND 2 years desktop support, helpdesk or related experience, AND relevant industry-accepted certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Fundamentals

OR

Bachelors degree AND relevant industry-accepted certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Fundamentals

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:

  1. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  2. Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  3. Ability to work independently or in a team setting

 

Additional Requirements of the position:

  1. Valid driver's license, clear driving record and reliable transportation for travel to different locations
  2. Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time to support 5 campus locations

Hiring Salary Range: $52,300 -  $62,760

This in-person position is based at the Lawrenceburg, TN Campus. However the incumbent will be expected to travel to other campuses frequently.
