Endpoint Security Desktop Engineer

Duration: 6-month contract to cover a LOA of a team member due to a serious illness. Potential to convert to perm/FTE after the initial contract term.

Location: Hybrid 3X per week – Houston, TX (near the Galleria)

Interview Process: 2 rounds (1st round virtual, 2nd round onsite)

Job Overview: We are seeking an IT Desktop Security Engineer to support our organization's desktop computing environment. In this role, you will be responsible for resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity, as well as maintaining overall system performance. The ideal candidate should have experience with Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) to manage user identities, permissions, and security protocols in a modern, cloud-first environment. You will also provide IT support to ensure the efficient operation of all desktop services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Entra ID Management: Manage user identities, permissions, and authentication through Entra ID (formerly Azure AD). Perform tasks such as account setup, password resets, and group policy management.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security measures aligned with Zero Trust principles, including access control, virus protection, and software patches. Ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Technical Support: Provide IT technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • System Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity problems, ensuring optimal desktop and mobile performance.
  • Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware, software, and peripherals. Deploy and manage operating systems and software updates.
  • Network Troubleshooting: Resolve LAN, WAN and ZTNA-related issues. Ensure seamless Wi-Fi connectivity for end users.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT staff, including system administrators and network engineers, to resolve escalated issues efficiently.
  • Project Support: Assist in IT projects such as hardware upgrades, software deployments, and system migrations.
  • Remote Support: Provide remote desktop support through phone, email, or remote access tools when necessary.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common issues and resolutions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or a similar role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Hands-on experience with Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) for identity and access management.
    • Experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) frameworks and technologies for access control and security management.
    • Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Mac OS, and mobile operating systems (iOS, Android).
    • Experience supporting and managing Microsoft Office 365 environments.
    • Familiarity with desktop imaging, configuration management, and automation tools (e.g., Intune).
    • Basic networking skills, including knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
    • Proficiency in using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Zendesk.
    • Experience in hardware troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
