Job Description
Nidec Motor Corporation seeks candidates for a Software Engineer I role to support Nidec Motor Corporation's Climate Technology Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning group. This position is in St. Louis, MO.
The Software Engineer I supports Desktop application development, database interaction, Microprocessor Embedded code, and internal equipment development. Work within a team, from customers, suppliers and manufacturers, to translate feature requests and new applications into production. Provide technical guidance to support schedule and product cost to ensure overall success on projects. Utilize appropriate tools with planning and designing applications. This position will focus on the growing HVAC group as we integrate controls into new and existing products.
Responsibilities:
  • Design Desktop applications for customers, manufacturers, and Embedded group.
  • Design microprocessor software for customers and manufacturers.
  • Help debug application issues with application engineers and customers.
  • Work with hardware, mechanical and application engineering groups to optimize product design.
  • Design verification and agency tools to improve productivity.
  • Contribute to design improvements, adapting new practices and equipment for variable speed motors.
  • Coordinate with component suppliers and contract manufacturers to support existing and derivative manufacturing libraries in production.
  • Create and support project documentation - test procedures, manuals and drawings.
  • Work with the quality group to support manufacturing and field troubleshooting.
  • Support application group regarding technical questions from customers.
  • Constantly improving known languages and implementing new language standards.
  • Contribute to innovative ideas for cost reduction, product and process improvements.
  • Some travel domestically and globally to support manufacturing locations when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science BS degree.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in Desktop/Library development or Embedded systems development.
  • Experience with C or C++, C# or Visual Basic, SQL, and Java Languages.
  • Familiarity with Visual studio and other IDEs for code development.
  • Familiarity with Object Oriented programming and embedded systems programming.
  • Familiarity with Electronic equipment for hardware testing and validation.
  • Effective interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills.
