Job description

Work in Wellness at the New Yora Nordic Spa

Something New Is Taking Shape
Opening in November 2026, Yora Nordic Spa is a place to pause, reconnect and experience wellbeing through nature, hydrotherapy and authentic human connection. It is a space where our team will create thoughtful and welcoming experiences that help guests reconnect with themselves, with others and with the natural world around them.

We are now beginning to build our founding team - the people who will bring Yora Nordic Spa to life and shape our culture from the very beginning. Working at Yora means working in wellness and contributing to a workplace and guest experience that are simple, inclusive, natural and social.

The Opportunity
The Front Desk Manager will be one of the first members of our on-site leadership team. This role will recruit, welcome, train and lead the founding Front Desk Guides who will open Yora Nordic Spa to our community in November 2026. The role is anticipated to start on or around September 28, 2026.

The Front Desk Manager creates the human connection that brings the Yora guest journey to life. Through thoughtful leadership, strong operations and genuine guest care, this role helps every arrival and departure feel welcoming and effortless while building a team that anticipates guest needs throughout the journey, removes friction and creates meaningful moments of connection.

What You Will Do

  • Recruit, onboard, coach and develop an engaged Front Desk Guide team.
  • Build a Front Desk culture grounded in warmth, professionalism and authentic hospitality.
  • Prepare the Front Desk team for opening through clear operating standards, training and hands-on leadership.
  • Lead daily Front Desk operations, including guest arrivals and departures, reservations, payments, cash handling and guest flow.
  • Manage scheduling, labour, Front Desk systems and departmental resources to support consistent operations.
  • Ensure guest arrival areas are calm, welcoming, organized and presented to Yora standards.
  • Lead guest recovery with empathy, confidence and sound judgment.
  • Partner with leaders across the spa to deliver a seamless end-to-end guest journey.
  • Use guest feedback and operational information to identify opportunities and improve the guest experience.
  • Support membership, retail and promotional initiatives that add value to the guest journey.
  • Manage departmental labour and operating expenses responsibly and contribute to financial goals.
  • Set clear expectations, recognize strong performance and model Yora's values of Simple, Inclusive, Natural and Social.

What You Bring

  • Three to five years of leadership experience in hospitality, wellness or premium guest service.
  • Proven ability to recruit, lead, coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of guest-journey management and service recovery.
  • Experience using reservation, property-management, point-of-sale and workforce-management systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing labour and departmental budgets.
  • A visible, approachable and service-oriented leadership style.
  • A genuine interest in wellness, hospitality and creating meaningful guest connections.

Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site leadership position. The Front Desk Manager must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays based on business needs. Additional flexibility will be required during the pre-opening and opening periods.

Benefits and Perks
As a member of Yora's founding team, you will be eligible to participate in a range of employee benefits and perks, which are expected to include:

  • Health and wellness benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Employee wellness privileges and discounted experiences at Yora Nordic Spa locations
  • Bistro and retail discounts
  • Learning, growth and development opportunities within a growing wellness brand

Yora is currently finalizing its employee benefit plans. Specific coverage, eligibility requirements, employee contributions and plan terms will be shared during the recruitment process and will be governed by the applicable plan documents.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This position works primarily indoors and requires a visible presence at the Front Desk and throughout the spa, with occasional work in outdoor areas. The role involves extended periods of standing and walking, periods of sitting and computer use, regular bending and reaching, climbing stairs, and carrying routine office, training or guest-service materials. While moving through operational areas, employees may encounter changing temperatures, humidity, steam, moisture, outdoor weather conditions and wet or slippery surfaces. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Reasonable Accommodation
Yora Nordic Spa provides reasonable accommodations to qualified applicants and employees in accordance with applicable law. To request an accommodation during the application or interview process, please contact People & Culture at careers@yoranordicspa.com.

We do not discriminate based on race, color, religious creed, age, sex, pregnancy, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic information, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state or local law.

If you are excited by the opportunity to build a new team, shape the guest journey and bring Work in Wellness to Portland, we would like to hear from you.
