This role functions as the Principal Design Engineer responsible for the design, development, validation, and lifecycle support of Radio Frequency (RF) coaxial cable, telecom, and fiber products used in wireless infrastructure applications (e.g., DAS, Public Safety, inbuilding systems). This role bridges product management, manufacturing, quality, and customers to ensure wireless communication products meet performance, reliability, cost, and timetomarket objectives.

Essential Duties

  • Manage and prioritize all engineering efforts to align with and achieve the strategic objectives of the business unit.
  • Direct development of new products utilizing the full capabilities of the MIEI group.
  • Support Sales and Marketing by providing technical literature and design reviews.
  • Review national and international codes and standards to ensure product compliance.
  • Represent the Company at industry, trade, and agency meetings.
  • Guide customers in the proper selection, use, and installation of RF coaxial cable, telecom, and fiber products.
  • Direct troubleshooting efforts at the sales/customer level.
  • Develop training programs for customers and internal personnel.
  • Provide functional direction and supervision to the engineering group to ensure timely processing of orders and quotes and efficient operation of product manufacturing.
  • Ensure engineering documents are timely, complete, accurate, and that specrelated issues are resolved.
  • Prepare the R&D budget aligned with longterm strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and manage execution of R&D activities aligned with longterm product roadmaps.
  • Support CAPEX plan development and 5M analysis for new equipment, including manufacturing and testing requirements based on product design.

These duties represent the general requirements of the Principal Design Engineer role and are not an exhaustive list. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on business needs.

Education & Experience (Preferred)
  • Fouryear Electrical Engineering degree (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Knowledge & Skills (Preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with lab and simulation software.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with active participation in business advancement.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations.
  • Strong managerial and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of:
    • RF test methods
    • RF theory
    • Passive & active RF systems
    • Material science
    • Modeling and simulation of RF, fiber, and telecom cables
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work long hours in a sedentary role involving sitting, talking, computer work, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to move objects and materials of at least 25 lbs.
  • Ability to collaborate with manufacturing team members in potentially noisy environments.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE when on the manufacturing floor.
