Job description

Andgar Food Processing Equipment (FPE) has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer in Ferndale, WA. This division works with a variety of metal products for food processing equipment manufacturing. Most of the final product is food-grade stainless steel and aluminum. The Design Engineer is responsible for assisting in design and development of food processing equipment using computer-aided design to render technical plans for onsite fabrication.

PLEASE NOTE: This role is located in Ferndale, Washington. This is NOT a remote position.

Specific duties include:

  • Collaborate with design and technical supervisor and customers to gather product and structural requirements and designs
  • Research and evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Contribute to the designs of new products and improvements to existing products; contribute to moderately complex aspects of a project
  • Transform complex rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD)
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Analyze test results and recommend appropriate design changes.
  • Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow
  • Use designs to develop specifications or estimates of materials needed for a project
  • Prepare creative designs or related drawings or details
  • Collaborate with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs
  • Transform initial rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD)
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards
  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality
  • Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the manufacturing team
  • Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow
  • Create detailed designs with SolidWorks design software
  • Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used)
  • Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials

  • Valid Driver License and clean driving record

  • Strong communication and math skills
  • Must be flexible with hours and able to work overtime as needed
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little supervision.
