Job description

Overview

This position plays a critical role in the quality and maintenance of the college's curriculum by serving as the primary support for faculty creating or revising curriculum using the available software (CIM and WIDS). This involves collaborating with faculty and/or staff, reviewing curriculum, suggesting enhancements, and ensuring compliance. This role reports to the Director of Teaching and Learning Resources and is part of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL); as such, the position assists CITL in supporting faculty throughout the year and leading professional development opportunities for faculty.

This position will be open until filled, with a first review date of June 1, 2026. After this date, the recruitment may close without further notice. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Curriculum and Assessment (50%)

  • Serves as the first step in the workflow process for faculty proposing new curriculum; works closely with the Registrar to ensure an efficient workflow process and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Maintains curriculum compliance standards and instructional integrity by providing guidance and suggested edits to faculty on proposed curriculum submissions; communicates closely with those in subsequent workflow steps.
  • Provide support in a one-on-one and / or group training environment for faculty and instructional staff in the effective use of the college's curriculum management software: Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS).
  • Serve as college's assessment software administrator for WIDS regarding syllabus management, program outcomes, and course competencies.
  • In collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IRE), train faculty on assessment analysis and related software, such as Blackboard Analytics and Pyramid.
  • Leads CITL response to faculty requests for support regarding assessment and curriculum-related software; contributes to the optimization of curriculum software; enters data into curriculum software as needed to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborates with program faculty to inventory program offerings and needs of industry partners as needed to identify potential areas for curriculum submissions.
  • This role serves as a member of the Curriculum Quality Committee.
  • Adjunct Specialist and Instructional Design (50%)

  • Research, recommend, and assist faculty in implementing learner-centered methodologies for the design, delivery and assessment of learning.
  • Coach and guide faculty in the adaption of effective instructional content using teaching and learning pedagogy.
  • Make recommendations for new and emerging instructional technologies and advise the college on the effectiveness of these technologies.
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to the college learning management system (Blackboard).
  • Conduct reviews of course shells and other instructional materials as needed using Quality Matters standards.
  • Serve as an engaged CITL team member and represent Teaching and Learning to other areas of the college.
  • Support the planning and facilitation of faculty professional development.
  • Assist Instructional Supervisors in the onboarding of adjunct faculty and serve as a point of contact for supporting adjunct faculty.
  • Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Project management and organizational capabilities; must possess the ability to handle multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of foundational learning theories and instructional design models and the ability to apply this knowledge to the creation of effective curriculum
  • Willingness to continuously improve one's knowledge, skills and attitude - especially those pertaining to instructional design, assessment, and curriculum development
  • Ability to apply fundamental research skills to instructional design projects
  • Ability to analyze problems and situations, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals
  • Proficient with current instructional technology and web conferencing software; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design or related field
  • Two (2) years of training/teaching experience with curriculum development and assessment experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Training in Quality Matters Standards
  • Familiarity with the Wisconsin Technical College System and/or similar post secondary educational setting.
  • Blackhawk Technical College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
