Job description

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative, fast-paced custom fabrication company.  You'll be a member of our engineering team, contributing to the design of new cutting-edge material handling products.

To be successful in this position, you should have proficient experience using CAD software, with strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving ability. It's also important that you have strong project management skills to meet the daily demands of the role.

Job Duties:
  • Design creativity in finding cost-saving solutions to customer problems
  • Create product models and drawings using CAD
  • System and component design that meet customer needs and requirements
  • Present designs and concepts to customers and project managers
  • Proactively work with experienced fabricators to integrate manufacturing best practices to meet customer requirements and eliminate challenges
  • Compliance with the industry safety standards
  • Product designs that ensure user-friendly interaction
  • Create and maintain documentation including Bill of Materials (BOM), part drawings, assembly drawings, and schematics.
  • Document project estimates, scope, and budget
  • Project management during the manufacturing process
  • Communicate with suppliers to achieve function and price objectives
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS CAD platform
  • Proven skills as a key contributor for concept and design development
  • Possess problem-solving skills and mechanical creativity
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with others
Education:
  • Requires a degree in mechanical design; BSME is preferred
  • Or technical degree with creative design ability and material handling design experience
Experience:
  • 2-years of relevant work experience
  • Hydraulics / Pneumatics / Electro-Mechanical design
  • Project management
  • APQP/PPAP Quality experience a plus
  • Cost reduction experience a plus
  • Sales background a plus
