Job description

Systems Design SME III Clearance Required: TS/SCI Contingent Upon Contract Award OTA is seeking a senior-level Systems Design SME to serve as a subject matter expert in the development of advanced systems and architectures. This role is responsible for designing complex system frameworks, ensuring interoperability, and guiding integration efforts across multiple platforms. The position provides technical leadership, oversees design reviews, and ensures compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and industry standards.

Additionally, the Systems Design SME role plays a key part in mentoring junior staff and contributing to strategic planning for system development and modernization initiatives. Key Responsibilities Develop and refine complex system architectures that support mission requirements and organizational objectives. Lead integration efforts across multiple platforms to ensure seamless interoperability.

Provide technical leadership in system design, implementation, and optimization. Oversee and conduct design reviews, ensuring adherence to quality and compliance standards. Advise on compliance with DoD or industry regulations, standards, and best practices.

Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers and design staff. Contribute to long-term strategic planning for system development, modernization, and lifecycle management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners to align system design goals.

Qualifications Active TS/SCI security clearance Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field 7-10 years of experience in systems design, systems engineering, or related technical discipline Proven expertise in developing complex system architectures and guiding integration across platforms Strong knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, standards, and compliance requirements Relevant professional certifications (e.g., INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), or equivalent) Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in defense systems design or large-scale engineering projects Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools Master's, advanced degree, or additional professional certifications preferred Company Overview Ops Tech Alliance (OTA) was founded by former National Security and Special Operations professionals with over 100 years of combined experience, and was formed with a singular focus: to bridge the gap between operations and technology to enable mission success.
