General Objectives:

Ethan Allen is seeking a motivated Design Sales Consultant who combines a passion for interior design with strong sales skills. This is a commission-based sales position where income is primarily driven by results, client relationships, and sales performance.

In this role, you will work directly with customers to create personalized design solutions, including space planning, furniture selection, fabric coordination, and project design, while helping clients furnish their homes with Ethan Allen products.

This is a Full-Time position and will require weekends as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create personalized design solutions that align with each customer's style, needs, and budget.
  • Sell Ethan Allen products and services while achieving monthly sales goals.
  • Build strong customer relationships through Design Center consultations and in-home appointments.
  • Conduct home calls to assess customer needs and develop complete design solutions that drive sales.
  • Grow your business through networking, grassroots marketing, and social media.
  • Educate customers on Ethan Allen's complimentary design services and financing options.
  • Stay current on design trends, products, and industry best practices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service before, during, and after the sale.
  • Utilize company technology, including CRM, Salesfloor, 3D Room Planner, and POS systems (Storis experience a plus).
  • Maintain accurate orders, project details, and customer communications.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to support sales growth and business development initiatives.
  • Represent the Ethan Allen brand professionally across all customer and community interactions.
  • Participate in required training, marketing programs, and other assigned duties.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of practical interior design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a design-related field from an accredited institution, desirable but not required.
  • Broad knowledge of interior design and effective sales techniques. Furniture sales knowledge is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of online sales and design tools.
  • Good listening skills with excellent oral and written communication skills also required.
  • General understanding of how to utilize social media and grass-roots marketing to develop a book of business.   Proven experience preferred.  
  • Valid driver’s license, except in limited circumstances in which the associate can establish to the Company’s satisfaction that they have available, for use during all business hours, an alternate means of transportation not requiring the operation of a motor vehicle which will enable them to perform the duties of their position.
  • Intermediate skill competency using digital floor planning technology. 3D applications a plus.
  • Experience using interactive technology to view design concepts such as augmented reality, virtual reality and other visualization tools.
  • Willing and capable of learning new technologies.

Compensation

This is a commission-based sales position. Design Consultants receive a recoverable draw equivalent to an annualized salary of $47,000 that is paid on a bi-weekly basis. Commissions earned are paid on a monthly basis.

Most experienced Design Consultants earn $70,000 to $115,000+ annually, while top performers can earn $200,000 or more per year through commissions and incentive compensation.
