Job description

Help us build the future and we'll help you build a rewarding and purposeful career.

Our global network is made up of architects, designers, planners, engineers, and environmental scientists all working towards the same goal.
Join a team that brings inspirational architecture, landscapes, townscapes and places to our world, and we'll provide you unlimited space to grow.

Who are we looking for?

Effectively investigating, assessing, and monitoring site ground conditions is essential to delivering successful projects-and we're looking for a passionate professional to lead the way. Our Geotechnical Services team in the Hilton Head, SC / Savannah, GA area is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert Geotechnical and Civil Engineering services across a diverse portfolio of clients. In this role, you'll manage all aspects of geotechnical project coordination and client engagement, while conducting engineering evaluations and calculations for shallow and deep foundations, ground improvement alternatives, retaining walls, slope stability (embankments and levees), pavement sections, and slabs-on-grade. You'll prepare signed and sealed final geotechnical submittals as Engineer of Record and have the opportunity to serve as the geotechnical lead on multi-discipline design projects.

On this team, you'll play a critical role in field operations-providing oversight of construction monitoring for earthworks such as mass grading, drilled shafts, driven piles, stone columns, subsurface pressure grouting, pavement systems, and vibration monitoring. You'll oversee subcontractors and interpret specialty laboratory testing data when the need arises.  As a key contributor to our business development efforts, you'll attend industry workshops, client meetings, prepare proposals for local private entity pursuits, and support proposal teams on larger federal pursuits. If you're ready to bring technical excellence, leadership, and a collaborative spirit to a team that values innovation and impact, we'd love to hear from you!

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
  • Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations: Create proposals for the selection of exploration-well locations by overseeing all aspects of geological/geophysical modeling and leading the data interpretation process.
  • Reservoir Characterization and Analysis: Analyze and integrate reservoir engineering data, including results of flow tests and well tests and historical production performance. Prepare and arrange the project database for reservoir engineering characterization and simulation.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
  • Data Management: Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues. This includes being responsible for developing or operating basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed outcomes.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Manage technical troubleshooting projects, ensuring effective diagnosis of technical issues with equipment and experiments and the development of effective solutions.
  • Project Management: Deliver projects while working within an established program management plan.
  • Exploration Plan Development: Design and implementing complex exploration plans.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with clients

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina and/or Georgia is preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience including deep foundation experience
  • Proven technical delivery as Engineer of Record
  • Proven project management experience including client management and retention
  • Geotechnical lab experience (Atterberg Limits, proctors, grain size analysis, hydrometer, moisture content)
  • Proven experience with Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT) procedures and analyses based on results is preferred
  • QA/QC construction oversight experience
  • Willing to travel both locally and regionally with some overnight travel

Our Hybrid Work Model:

Be part of the dynamic culture! Our workplace thrives on a hybrid model, combining in-office collaboration and flexibility. Join us in the office three days a week to contribute, connect and excel in our vibrant environment.
